Hi All,

I wanted to know if it was possible to get a USD bank account for overseas aff marketers. I am currently based in Australia and I work with most health product networks are clickbank. The structure here in Australia is not too good for online income, unless you are earning quite well. I am at the moment at about $2k USD (not ballin yet!) after costs..and I will have to pay $30 for every conversion of USD to AUD plus a $50-100 fee per month for keeping a USD account..both of which cannot be tax deducted.

Anyone with any pointers on how to open an account would be greatly appreciated.

cheers.

Hey dude,

You don't need a US bank account, what you need is an Australian bank account that accepts USD currency (that way you can pay off your credit card, which should be in USD as well. If not get an american express card that is - this negates the risk of currency flucations).

I know citibank does this (I think you need a 10k minimum with them though), I do mine with an anz business account. But they wanted me to have the account for 12 months before I was allowed to have the currency in USD as well. I managed to get around this, but I can't remember how anymore (I think I just kicked up a fuss and threatened to go to the financial services ombudsman).

Nobody should be charging $50-$100/month for keeping a USD account.

It's simply not possible to get a US bank account after all that terrorism shit.

It's possible if you do it in person. I have an EU passport and it was pretty easy to open an account with Chase while I was visiting. Makes things so much easier.

Interesting. I'm a U.S. citizen with an account at Chase but they say that they can't deal with me changing my address to overseas.

Thanks for your response. Assuming by your avatar you are in Australia..or an Aussie. so what bank would you recommend. The people I spoke to were Westpac. and the guy was like...these fees are marginal if you have high volume..which is understandable..but until then what..? was my question.

I will ask my bank and see what they can offer me.

I agree that after 9/11 it has become hard..I had read about some priv. label banks offering this..but most require quite a bit of deposit!

Get a account with HSBC and they will charge you a flat fee and conversion charge per transaction which is nominal

Why just not open USD account ? Who the hell on planet even charge $50-$100 per month for account ? I live in Ukraine and have USD account for wires and can do same for EUR, hell, in some banks I can open for Switzer franks or whatever currency, Britian pounds, Russian rubles and many other popular currencies.

Possible in Ukraine (where I can't even accept paypal, fuck!) and not in Australia ? Come on!

Canada Bank(RBC, BMO) can help its customer open US based bank accout

Also there are many methods to get a US based account if you're not US citizen, even you do not need to come to US

he do not need US bank account, he need USD account, which probably any bank on this planet can open freely.

Yeah, I have a multi currency account with a bank in Gibraltar in USD, GBP and EUR and can move funds freely between those accounts, or my current account, make wires, pay bills, receive payments, etc. etc. all online with minimal fees.

I would do what Vinny suggested and go see HSBC.

Three banks that operate in Australia that I know of that do this:

HSBC, Citibank, ANZ.

ANZ requires a business account. Citibank has a 10k minimum and I can't remember what HSBC requires.

I'm sure all banks do this though, just make an appointment with whoever you have your personal account with to sit down with a business account manager or somebody similar and they will be able to tell you what they can offer you. Comm bank might be a good option because they've spent a fuckton on advertising recently and I'm sure there is pressure to convert that.

I have a US dollar bank account with the Commonwealth Bank in Australia. Doesn't cost me anything per month. If an Australian bank wants to charge you crazy fees for a US dollar bank account, tell them to GTFO and find another bank.

I was lucky enough to be offered a virtual us bank account by payoneer. It does all the things like usual bank account. $2 per month fees and $1 per transaction, cool stuff.

See if your bank offers a USD credit card as well.
I'm in Canada and have checking/cc/paypal in USD

not that it makes a big difference since the CAD has been at par for sometime now; but still good when the USD shoots back up

just to add, Citibank is a complete asshole when it comes to clearing USD checks. took them over 3 months to clear a check which is usually cleared by HSBC in 21 days lol.

Thanks for all the responses. I have been looking around for a few options. I would look into payoneer also, every bank that I called here said to me, "we can't give you the business account info over the phone, you need to go into a branch for it". Though, I just wanted to know what my options were and fees and charges..thats about it!

Will go to one of these banks tomorrow morning and see what they say...hate it when everything can be done online and then for something you have to go into a bank..aarrrggghhhh!!!

You know, I wouldn't deal with a bank who open business acounts over phone. And even personal ones...:) Transactions with them later - makes sense.
