VERY stupid, yet simple question

I am about to purchase a domain. I am wondering how important a dash in the domain name is. For example

niche-blog.com vs
nicheblog.com

I am asking if there is a difference from an SEO standpoint only, does google rank you lower for dashes?

yea of course. no dash is always better than dashed urls. but mostly, you cannot find two-word domains that are good nowadays so you'll be forced to use dash and hyphens..

imho, no. seo-wise i dont think theres that much difference

there are plenty of two word domains out there, it just depends on the niche.

From my limited experience in SEO, I don't think a dashed domain makes a difference. I've seen plenty of dashed domains ranked just as high as non-dashed ones.

But why not do some research yourself?

I think it has not much difference for SEO but it has difference for users who very likely will type no dash one.

You'd be surprised how inexpensive currently-registered domains are to buy. If you see one you like that's owned and parked (no existing site on it), e-mail the owner to see if they'd be willing to part with it.
