We think Video Ads are likely to be the next big thing. we have shot some really funny commercials highlighting a different website and want to see if we can build a brand in one of our niches.

Here is the problem...

We have yet to find an efficient way to put video ads anywhere on the net. The banner networks don't really promote them. Google does not have an ad service. The best we have been able to do is negotiate on a site by site basis.

This is what sort of killed web 1.0, the absolute pain in the butt to get decent wide ranging ads placed effectively on lots of website simultaneously. It was the business opportunity that has made Google what they are today.

Yet noone seems to be focusing on this. Maybe I am slightly ahead of the curve, but surely there is some company that is working on this.

Anyone ever used Video Ads on their website? Know of any way to either buy or sell ads...Any input would be helpful...

This is a good point, I have thought about doing Video advertising for awhile but the problem remains how can you make a video that people can play but also click on to link to your website?, sure you could just wrap it in a hyperlink but whenever someone clicks on it to play the video they would be re-directed to your site.

You could have the video auto-play but then the position on the webpage would have to be near the top so they would see it the first time around, unless its on a continuous loop.

There are a lot of issues involved with video advertising, the one nice thing is that if you don't link the entire video and just have a part in the video itself saying type this link into your address bar or go to http://www.whatever.commysite.com then your likely to get more conversions for your products, if there willing to take the time to type in your url then there probably willing to browse around your site for awhile.

The last thing is that videos really do work, they are super popular, I mean just look at YouTube, everyone goes there to watch video's not to mention videos have helped out my sites a lot, simply because people do not always want to read, they now need an interactive mixture of items, videos included.

With all these things you would think that someone would start a network big enough to include video advertising, I would start one myself if I had the resources to pull it off but that would be quiet a big project for just one person.

Wow - Cannot believe I missed that in the interface. Will have to give Adsense Video a try.

Has anyone ever accepted video ads on their site? What kind of CPM or CPC do you see?

Google will likely win this battle with its huge number of advertisers.

But will it be from building it in-house or buying the company that does it best?

Yahoo will probably overpay for 3-4 companies in this space because of the google gaffe, but i suspect the one they balk at the price on will be the winner.
