Virus Kicking my Ass

I know this isn't really the place for this but I don't know who else to turn to.

Basically I've been battling with some nasty malware since last night. I think it's some kind of adware that has taken over my browsers and is blocking access to just about every antivirus related website. It also redirects my clicks from google search results to random parked domains. I have to type addresses in directly to get anywhere. Even some features of this site won't work.

Anyway, I decided I'm just going to have to reformat. However, my CD-ROM has been out of commission forever. I have an external hard drive (just bought it today), and I was wondering if I could maybe download a disc image of XP onto the external hard drive (from a torrent site) and then try to boot from the external drive via USB? Would that even work?

If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it. I can't get shit done and I don't want to check any important stats or anything since my browser has been compromised.

Oh and I've run Spybot, Avast, Malwarebytes, and CCleaner. They all found problems and said they corrected them but the problem persists. I also ran them in safe mode.

This fucking sucks!

Cause I bought it off some local guy on craig's list for $20. At that point I was only looking for a way to backup my files in case I did something really stupid while trying to fix it. Now I'm resolved to just having to reformat.

My CD-ROM is internal. It won't even open unless I point to "eject" from the computer, and then it tries to read things for like 5 minutes and then gives up and tells me there is no disc. I tried a lens cleaner, that didn't help. There are also no updated drivers I can find for it. My computer is basically a big pile of shit. Actually it's sort of small. It's a small, defective pile of shit.
 
XMCP ways could get kind of complicated, I'd suggest just buying a new CD drive at bestbuy be like $20. If you need advice on which kind to get (Sata or ide) and how to install it let me know I could help you out should only take 2 minutes.

Is a restore CD different than the regular XP install disc? If so, do you know off-hand where I could download one? Sorry, I looked around but all I can find are ways to contact Microsoft about getting one. No torrents that I could find expressly for "restore" discs.

Alright, will do. This is the only site I logged into with my password, I've been avoiding that since this vicious beast has seized control of my browser. If you see me start peddling penis e-books in here, you'll know why.

Filezilla + a web server can fix this problem ... Just make it a temporary password for this one use in case of sniffing.

If you have no web site, I'll donate one to the cause because losing the important files is the worst part of this shit. I honestly don't mind the reformatting process but the chaos that ensues looking for shit sucks.
 
my mate had this a month or 2 back. no need to format. it is fixable. Simply google the url it passes through before it hits the landing page and you should find a heap of articles on how to fix it.
 
Ikonic is right, i had this same virus. (you were trying to crack something, or you were looking at porn.. heh) anyway, there is a fix program out now that will remove the adware. it removes everything, restarts your computer and removes what was running.
 
Take a paperclip, straighten it, and poke it through the little hole on the cdrom drive (no software eject do it manually). Then pull the tray all the way out as far as it will go and give it a little tug. Shove a screw driver in there and push the laser arm till it rests in the center try not to poke the actual lens. Then push the tray all the way back in as far as it'll go. Try the eject button again and getting it to read a cd. I don't know if that'll fix your problem but may be worth a shot. Sometimes the track gets off by one tooth on the tray which causes it to think the drive is open just enough to not register the eject button, but enough to try to spin the disk which is that funny noise you hear. However the laser in its starting position is hitting the inside rim to the first few tracks on the disk on every spin so it can't register the disk giving you the error on the screen.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your help. I ended up having to buy a new internal CDROM off craig's list and then reformatted. I tried the whole paper clip MacGyver trick, but another thing I forgot to mention was that it's a Dell slim model, so it has some piece of shit laptop type CDROM built in, not the universal kind that can be easily replaced. So the lens is actually in the tray, and I didn't really know what to do except smack it around and scratch it into total uselessness.

Anyhoo, all is well now. Just gotta do a whole lot of pirating to get all my software back. Thanks again.
