Charles Ngo stresses the importance of being more competitive and productive on regular basis in his area. Yesterday, it occured to me that I did not read anything about this aspect in SEO business. That's why I wanted to ask you this question. What are some things that would make SEOs more competitive and productive?

What are some assets or skills that would differentiate you from tens of thousands of SEOs?

Bro everybody here knows you aint seo without SerpWoo

Being able to produce actual results.

But that comes with actually knowing what you're doing and giving a shit about the client.

A lot of people here like to shit on SEO and that's understandable because their sites are impacted hard by Google and what not but some just jump on the "SEO is dead" bandwagon.

I am willing to wager that the actual SEO experts are making a killing right now and just keep quiet around these parts.

Just like there are those who bitch about SEO there are also those who rave about it. Let me give you a quick anecdote:

I work for a good sized SEO firm. One of our co-workers was raving to my manager about our work because this specific client was extremely happy with the results. The client in question sells costumes online and because of the SEO work we are doing, has been able to improve their rank and thus become a lot more profitable. They are getting so much more traffic to the point that they were actually out of stock. This is a great problem to have.

I think that for every 10 people who bitch about SEO there is 1 person who benefits from legit SEO and not shady stuff. So take from my story what you will. Hope that helps.

Dear Mr. Anderson,

I was deeply saddened to hear about the death of SEO and I'm shocked you missed the news. I know how difficult this must be for you as the news struck me like a Panda bear slapping me across the face with his paw and then holding me down so his penguin friend could shit down my throat.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. SEO was such a kind, gentle soul. He would do anything to help someone in need. I remember one time when 6 of my Acai landers were in the top 10 results of Google, Overture, Kanoodle, and Dogpile.

I know how much you will miss SEO. I encourage you to create original content, optimize your sites for mobile, utilize HTTPS so that all of your visitors get a false sense of security, and of course your strong beliefs in Google...God, I meant God.

Perhaps you could use your special talent of scrapbooking to make a lasting memory book of SEO and the good times you had together. If you would like, I can enlist my Indian content creation team to help you make your scrapbook. I have some lovely pictures of SEO I’d love to share.

May God bless you and your family during this time and always,

Matt Cutts

From my limited experience, what the web needs is a true competitor to Google. When you have one corporation pulling the strings they set their own standards which is indirectly enforced on the entire system. Bing search results had a controversy recently because it was mimicking google results page for similar terms. This is bad for the industry and also user experience. SEO is just another branch of advertising and marketing.
