What do you do about retailers that don't pay their commissions?

I signed up as an affiliate with a retailer about 15 months ago. Since then I've sent them approximately $10K in sales. As of today I am owed $511.40 in commissions and they have paid zero.

I've sent several emails. I've left several voice mails. Two days ago I was finally able to speak to a live human who said that she would 'pass this on to her boss".

Other than just ripping their banner ad and affiliate links off my site, are there any other steps I should take?

tell them you're not sending them any new sales till they send you payment

i had an absinthe vendor do this to me once but then they sent me a free bottle of booze as a sorry so all was good again in Trippy Drunk Affiliate Land circa 2009

It's happened to me once and until this day I've not been paid what I'm owed.

Yes, it's frustrating, but you just got to put it down to a bad experience and learn from it.

Stop sending traffic.

If they have a presence in your state, then take them to small claims court. You will probably just end up having to pay the fees and file with the court ... after they are served they will settle if they have a real business. You should be able to get your payment plus court fees back and maybe a little more.

If their business is about to fold or declare bankruptcy, you may be permanently screwed.

I managed to get the girls at the front desk to give me the owner's email address. I sent him a nice polite email explaining the situation. In his reply he apologized and said he would write me a check for the entire amount I was owed.

And today I hold in my hot little hands a check for $511.40. He's also asked me to come up with a promotion for him that would be available only through my website.

I'm feeling pretty good right now.

Good stuff man! Always make sure there is someone on the end of the phone that can take a call when sh*t hits the fan. Everybody is happy to make money, but when they have to shell it out to their affiliate... they bail

I did $2k one month on an offer and they paid so I ramped it up to $5k the next month and they didn't pay me. Sucks balls!

Now I learned to manage cash flow, never go all in on one particular offer, even if its killing it. Currently, I sign up for multiple networks that run an offer or a similar offer and rotate through them all so they all owe me money and one who screws me will not be a huge deal.
