What do you guys think about a facebook day-parter or pof dayparter?

Ok so a few days ago I created a thread asking if there was anything missing from the AM scene in terms of software. I did some searching around and after a few conversations it dawned on me, holy shit there is no working facebook day parting script or plenty of fish script that I can find at least.

I went to my handy dandy little notepad and started drawing up some ideas. I was thinking it would be pretty cool obviously to have a day parting script for both of these platforms (facebook especially I am sure we all are getting tired of manually going in there and pausing campaigns).

The problem that I see and have seen in the past when developing software is how to release it. There is something in this business that isn't common to most products I have launched in the past, and that is most people want to keep their shit private, meaning they have problems with hosted solutions like prosper or any of these new link services that are sprouting up. The unfortunate thing for people like me is it makes it a pain in the ass to sell something, because instead of just focusing on your server and its settings, you start giving away this script or piece of software and you open up about 1,000,000 more variables that did not exist before. Even people who have never coded anything in their life can understand how this creates some obvious problems.

So my question to you guys is, would you want something self-hosted, or something that is just a desktop app? Ideally a membership type login site would be the best, do you guys have any thoughts on that? Obviously the problem here is people have reservations about giving you their login information, which would obviously need to be stored.

So you guys that use stuff like tracking202 pro, what quells your reservations about them stealing your data?

Any input on this is great because I am just trying to figure out what makes things like that work, are you guys just not afraid of them stealing campaigns or you just don't care? Another problem with this might also be facebook would not like some script logging into their site 5000 times a day either on a bunch of accounts from a single IP, so I think that alone rules out the possibility of creating a membership type based site.

I'm really surprised more plugins haven't been created for 202. Its the most widely used platform so that's instantly a market that is ready to buy plus there would be next to no competition for anyone that tries. It has been missing some very obvious things and it could be made perfect in 3 or 4 plugs.

That's easy money. I wonder why no one wants it?

Oh yeah, that could definitely be done but would be a lot harder because you have to learn how prosper works and mingle through all their code. I actually modded it once and it was a pain in the ass.

To all you guys who are saying you want a prosper plugin, what would you think about a desktop app, would you guys use that? The reason I ask is because especially with the launch of bevo media, people would not be as inclined to use the plugin versus a desktop app which eveyrone could use.

So you guys who want to see the plugin, would you use it if it were a desktop app?

why not something similar to facebook ad manager. do you consider that a desktop app cuz you download it and install it on your computer and it doesnt report back to anywhere and its just an extension on firefox. could be dope

so you are saying you want something like a firefox extension? or you want something like facebook ads manager but with day parting included?

@OP - maybe these are two different things, but is it possible to code something to automatically stop a FB campaign or even a specific ad once it hits a certain # of impressions? I have better things to do than "F5 like it ain't no thang."

Actually I don't. I just fucking hate staring at my screen for 30 minutes, waiting to hit 25-50K impressions. Nothing happens, go out for a smoke, come back, BAM! 450K impressions, and a fucking CTR of .01%.

oh yeah, absolutely man. the problem with that is facebook has like a 5 minute delay so you can rack up tens of thousands of impressions before facebook reports it in the ad manager.

but yeah, i think a desktop app would be best and be pretty cool with some of the things you mention, like the ability to be able automatically shut down campaigns if they reach a certain CTR that you determine is too low, or after a certain number of impressions. i would probably program it to check in at intervals which you deem good (1 minute, 5 minutes, whatever).

do most of you guys have multiple facebook accounts? what do you think about monitoring multiple accounts at once? i use two accounts right now, but if i wanted to do this i would need to do it with some javascript like fb ads manager so everything looks natural, so obviously monitoring two accounts could be a problem, but you could just open up two instances of the software.
