so I was making a webmaster forum, not exactly like this one but not unlike it either. It was going to be more along the lines of Designing and Coding, instead of marketing, affiliating, and ad revenue.

But after a talk with someone, I've sorta started to change my mind.



So I thought, about how a community (forum) for guys? Post stupid jokes, hot pictures of babes, talk about games, all that good shit.

yay or nay? if nay, throw some ideas at me?

haha I love when people use my online screen name as means to 'dis me'. It's sad really....I've used it for years on tons of sites and servers. It's just a name, nothing more. Get over it 'wesley' with a William Shatner avatar. Go watch Star Trek or T.J. Hooker, then jump off a bridge.

You have some thinking to do - what exactly will you be bringing to the table that's not already out there ?! In your initial post, you described one of the most common types of forums and even the ones that are totally unrelated usually have the "here's where we post jokes, babes and boobs" section.

So in case we're all not missing something, the nineties will be calling you as soon as you make the forum, wanting their idea back

I used to run a site like this. Way too much competition out there. But that said, where there are boobies... traffic will follow. But remember, offtopic.com, genmay.com (I really miss the typo I used to have of it -- gengay.com ), livingwithstyle.com etc, will be your direct competitors.

If you keep at it, you will grow. But it will take some effort. =)

You have to decide why you spend time online. If it's just to be here then go for it. If you want to make money you have to do your research. You need to find a market problem. Provide a solution. Put your solution in front of those who need it. Build and site on the premise that people will find it and use it just because you thought it was a good idea?

Consider this a thrown idea:

How about a forum where everyone has the ability to post under everyone else's username that is a constant contest to try to guess who actually posted. The winner gets an all you can eat pass to Denny's and the losers all have to put ben gay in their underwear on camera and jog.

While I wouldn't say this is original, it at least hasn't been done yet... I hope.

Are there any anonymous asshat with ben gay in their shorts forums?

I'll have to google that...
