WHAT IS EVERYONE USING FOR HOSTING??

Knownhost.

I still have no idea why so few people talk about them, other
than that they have a shitty affiliate program.

Would be interesting to have a compilation of results, perhaps
start a poll or something?

Beyond Hosting. Support is awesome. If you are like me and don't know shit about hosting, it's nice to have people that are knowledgeable about what we do and can ask questions in industry terms.

The guys rock and the prices are pretty good for the level of service they have. They have always responded to support tickets in around 30 minutes and are very thorough in their responses.

I remeber once asking them to increase the numbers of allowed sub domains, to which they responded by giving me access to the root management and advised me to instead create a separate cpanel for each domain. That way if I get one domain cpanel hacked the other ones will remain safe.

May sound stupid to some, but to me thats the type of management you want - give advice too, not just "do as I command".

I recently had to move VPS providers and did a ton of research on hosts. It's time consuming to sort thorugh reviews to weed out the 90% that are jsut pitching for an affiliate commish.

I ended up going with a Knownhost.com vps. So far so good.

Also you might want to check out serverbear.com They do actual tested comparisons of a host's test results instead of just ranking the one with the highest aff commish. Although I didn't factor too much of that site into my data since I found it near the end of my search AND it doesn't take into account things like support responses.

JaguarPC has done me well. Their managed VPS are affordable and their support has made me so lazy I submit tickets for stupid shit I could do myself. They don't even blink, they just do it!

I'm going to move some stuff to a shared account, but I'm wondering if 200-300 GB/month is too much to put on a shared hosting account? Anyone know?

They all say unlimited, but I have a feeling that might get shut down...

You can do it on a shared but (speaking for HG) we won't provide any backups on your account.

Thanks for the info, I meant to specify 200-300gb of bandwidth a month though. Is that too much? I know it depends on the system resources, but would that likely use too many resources?
