You need to do a test buy, minimum 25k ad spend in a month per ad, in order to see which ones convert better. Any less than this and it won't be statistically relevant, so your data will be useless.
 
From what I've read, the best route is to test text ads first (IE google search or content ads) Once you have that in place, split test various graphical elements.
 
If you use the davenport-schinzel sequence it usually produces a harmonic progression that makes the monies. Otherwise use the addition-subtraction chain as a way to improve results.
 
If you're going to do media buys with the creatives, then it would make the most sense to test the creatives in the most similar environment: small media buys.
