Pissed off - need to take a month out - feel like I've been banging my head against a brick wall lately with ppc (see the acai fail case study).

Got some stuff running profitable and then G fucks it over. Sweet.

Anyway - back to the point.

If you were locking your laptop away for 30 days but wanted to actually learn some useful shit while you were taking a break from pushing offers what would you recommend.

Im talking about reading materials, coding stuff to swot up on etc etc. Basically anything that is useful that I can do to come back strong.

Don't say "it's gonna be a month" only because you feel that way right now! Maybe take a weekend off for starters, get in the car, drive out, fishing/climbing/beach/boat/whatever?

What I mean is, don't necessarily put a timestamp on your offtime, because if you can't last that long without the internets, you'll feel bad because you didn't keep your own promises. Take it easy man, relaxation is all about NOT putting timestamps on things.

You'll be fine, I have no doubt :)

BobSoap - As ever legendary input, you know what I mean :)

BlueYonder, Nacho and Do3Boy - lol, Im gonna take your advice in the order that was posted, except the $20 LP thing :)

Jenzkc - stick it up your ass fuckwad.

I find it's helpful to read something meaningful after clearing your head.

So, step 1: smoke a QP, run a marathon, mountain climb, build something, drive across the country, cook your meals for the next month... whatever you do, it just has to take you out of the mode of strategizing and trying to out-think everyone and everything. It has to take you from the hybrid strategy/tactics mode we all run around in to a purely tactical state. Strategy is trying, tactics is doing.

Now read something meaningful, like Sun-Tzu's Art of War, The E-Myth, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, or Psychology of Influence. I'd avoid programming books, etc. because you're going to end up thinking tactically again. Let the strategic concepts trickle down and marinate in your brain while you continue to do whatever from step 1.

Little by little, the concepts in your reading will start to connect with your campaigns, sites, ideas, etc. All of a sudden you'll be excited about it all again and eager to get back.

Works for me anyway.

You would be better off not taking much time off. You will just get behind on stuff. Take a couple days and relax then try new shit, don't put all your eggs in google's basket or you are just looking to get fucked.

Whenever I get stuck, I hop a cheap flight to amsterdam and get blown out of mind for 3 days straight. I usually come out of it with a notebook filled with ideas. It is the most creativity city in the world for a reason.
