What's the Best Subscription Software?

As someone that runs a sub. site and has a ton of different software I have tested, let me me list some of the ones I know of/have tried:
The only ones I would look at out of this list after personal testing myself are:
Optimize Press/Optimize Member comes very close, but for Wordpress base I like Wishlist better. DAP and Amember can stand on their own without Wordpress, but I like Amembers plugins and support a bit better than DAP, but DAP is a good product.
You can also custom build your own too, which is what we had to do with SERPWoo due to some special functions we needed.
For payments, I love Stripe... but Paypal is an OK choice too. However, I think they raised their CB deadline from 45 days to 180 recently.

Um...ok.
I'm looking to start a subscription-based site and I'd like robust software that gives me a lot of options like 'subscription levels' and such.
Other than that, I'm not sure what I might need in this kind of a software.
So...what do you recommend and what is important to look for when buying this software and starting a site like this?
So you just need something to keep a list of members that get charged every month?
What are you offering them in exchange for membership? Downloadable files, videos, product that gets physically shipped, or? Or are you taking care of fulfilment on a totally separate system, and you need this system for billing only?
Do you need a referral / affiliate program? What type, if any fees (ie. shipping costs / taxes) need to be supported? Is there different levels of membership, or just one? Do you need multi-currency support?

For something complex go with amember or s2member if you are looking for something very simple go with wp members
