Just came back from walmart and i had to PAY for my own bags???

are you guys being charged as well, or is a local thing. I spent like $5 on plastic bags lol.
Now if I was walmart i wouldn't charge, a woman in front of me left her basket and walked out refusing to buy plastic bags.... wonder how long this policy will last.

You had to pay for bags? Fuck. Sounds like some places in Spain.

Last time I was in wal-mart (5 days ago or so) I didn't pay for shit.

Where do you live?

Probably some of the cashiers trying to get a little $$ on the side.

lol,..haha i stay in California, Sacramento.
Maybe they are just doing consumer testing at that store before taking it nation wide. And 5 years with no walmart??? how do you do that??? lol

Who the fuck shops at Wal-Mart? Fuck Wal-Mart and their plastic bags. I'd rather pay an extra dollar or two and help the local economy and just wish the Chinese the best of luck.
lol, there's not too many local shops in Sacramento, its all big stores.... Where i'm at anyways. And besides shopping at walmart helps local stores by supporting the teenagers who are employed there and im sure some of them spend locally.

not always an option when you live in east-asshole middle of nowhere

They have "premium" bags at one of the walmarts here, but they also sell sushi and wine so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

They're moving toward forcing you to buy and use their special "green bag" whereby they insert RFID chips to track your entry and movement throughout their properties.

These chips will also interact with the RFID chips inserted in their products to track and charge you for your purchases as you leave their properties.

Eventually, everyone will be wearing Walmart RFID chips in one form or other as they'll better be able to meet your needs and stomp out theft.

Even further into the not so distant future, Walmart and Google will merge and the world will finally be at peace as strife and wants and needs are all cared for.

Enjoy your stay!

In Asda in the UK (owned by Walmart) they stopped handing out plastic bags for a while and forced you to buy their premium reusable bags for about 20p or bring your own. Not a big deal for most but they do have a lot of low-earner customers, so I imagine this is why they stopped this and started giving away the free ones again.

Here in Ottawa, most places started charging 5 cents for a plastic bag, or $1 for a reusable branded shopping bag. Of course, the stores claim the 5 cent charge will move shoppers to the reusable bag and wind up sending less plastic bags to the landfill (oh and the environment in general too), but I don't buy it. It's nothing but a cash grab.

If stores were so concerned about what winds up in the landfill, they'd be pushing manufacturers to use less packaging. I throw out a fuckpile more packaging than I ever did plastic bags.
