My friend has had this website for a while now. It's a local affiliate ticket website. Her site is first in google for keywords like 'austin concerts' and 'jersey boys austin.' It gets 7000+ unique visitors per month and is barely breaking $100 a month.

The site is AustinConcertTickets.net. We need some opinions on what needs to be changed to make some more money. The traffic is there but not converting. Any help would be appreciated.

Are they spending time searching there or just hitting the 'back' button?

If they are searching a lot, they may just be using it to find things to do, then go and buy the tickets elsewhere.

You know how the links go to ticketnetwork.com? Try emulating the site a little more.

  • The orange "view tickets" links are almost invisible on the white background. Make the buttons black and 3D like the Buy buttons on ticketnetwork (if you don't know how to do this, PM me).
  • Make the rows of the events listing alternate in colour - just like at ticketnetwork (baby blue, then white etc.)
  • Remove the adwords links from under the subhead "Austin Concert Tickets – Local Austin Music". The point is to have them at a location that resembles navigation links, or where people would accidentally click them. ... Like right above the event listing
  • You could also make the entire area for an event listing into a link. Because the text is blue, it confuses people into thinking that it is a link - but it isn't. The orange link is too small of a clickable area.
  • If you want to do something fun, then pick a random event, and next to its listing place a 'handwritten' arrow with a note that says 'this one's awesome', as though an editor wrote in their recommendation.

Your page is pretty busy. I didn't see the AdSense until I had already
scrolled down and back up three times.

Your visitors are clicking on that which you have put in front of their
eyes most prominently. Your ads are way way down on the right. A
very unimportant place, therefore, few clicks if any.

If it's not important to you, it won't be important to them.

Put you ads above the fold, center of page if you want conversions.

imo,
