Okay, this may seem like a dumb ass question (or not), but if I was to use PPV to market a one page lander which is basically a big banner (read image) and when the "viewer" clicks that banner he gets sent to the offer is this considered display/banner traffic or is it still PPV traffic in the eyes of the network/advertiser.

So if the offer says no PPV/Contextual would you be breaking the terms if you sent traffic this way?

Not sure why I don't know this already......

Yes you will be breaking the terms. Most networks consider contextual advertising the same as PPV. You might get a way with this if you dont do much volume.

wrong, it is web traffic.

if using lander = web traffic
if direct linking = ppv traffic

if you are using a lander, how would anyone ever know its PPV traffic coming to your lander anyways?

lander+ppv traffic is def. web traffic or display not considered ppv traffic anymore. rmr to cloak your landers though just to be safe.

^^^ PPV is dead, long live CPV

Yeah, if it hits an LP first your traffic is good to go.

The whole point in denying cpv traffic is to limit high-volume un-targetted crap from screwing with epc's on offers that can't / won't separate impressions from clicks.

ok so are you ready for the right answer?

talk to your am. it varies based on advertiser / network.

Ok, let me clarify, I am not looking to game/cloak/fuck a network, I just want to know if networks consider it legit or not.

At the moment it is just curiosity, hence me not directly asking all of my AMs and I thought it would be good for public knowledge.

If I was to run traffic this way I would of course ask the specific AM if it is legit or not as I don't want them turning around to me one day when they owe me some nice change and say "Hey thats not allowed! You get nothing! And your're banned!"

Word to the warning for any newbies, always check with your AM before you run any serious volume through a new LP if you are in the slightest doubt (even if you are not) as they WILL fuck you in the ass and keep your cash at any available opportunity!!!! - I am talking about ALL networks, including the ones that some consider as "big" or "legit"

when noobs on TV hit make my bid highest causing it to jump 5.00 cpm as opposed to just 1.00

thats when ppv is not ppv

Network don't want you to PPV direct link because it is possible to bring down the offer/network if you do huge volume.

Send your traffic to the lander, as long as it is converting and advertiser is happy with the lead quality, no one is going to complain

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but to be honest if you are not 100000% sure that the traffic is 100% compliant with a network you may find yourself without money owed to you, even if the advertiser is happy with the quality. I know this first hand and I tell you it sucks!

OK. I get it. You were talking about incremental bids (not absolute as I thought). My apologies.
