Which keyword to choose for url link to get higher ranking

Let suppose if I want to rank in for single keyword like "thanking".

Then which will help most to get faster one if someone searching for exact word "dog". Is it:

www.example.com/thanking

Or

www.example.com/thanking-us

And the keyword "thanking" won't be in the domain name.

Correction: Their should be "thanking" instead of "dog" keyword. cannot change it for some reason.

Don't confuse <title> which you want to optimize for HUMAN visitors vs the permalink exact match in the URL which you're optimizing for BOT visitors.

Longtail is another story though....
