who the hell buys the crap that AM sells?

I promoted an ebook for a while on "how to get your ex back" (LOL). Man, ever since that point I haven't even attempted to market any type of product that I personally wouldn't be interested in. Not that I have to go out and buy one of everything I market, but I have to at least find it reasonable and something I would be interested in if I had a need for it.

There are thousands of companies out there with affiliate programs. Almost any product you could think of probably has a company that would like to have you as an affiliate promoting their stuff.

Or don't KNOW that they need. To say that marketing is always convincing people to buy shit they don't really need is incorrect. There are a lot of necessities out there and do the sellers of those products market them? You bet your ass. But you'll find that the most pressuring form of marketing is used on non necessities such as weight loss and beauty shit. You've got to admit that the way Revlon markets their products and the way Skippy peanut butter markets their products are pretty different.
 
Marketing is everywhere. Its even played on you from the choices you make for toothpaste, clothes, even the toilet paper you use to wipe your ass. Look at the brands you like, they got you somehow and most likely you can 'affiliate' yourself with those. Not everyone wants to scam, some just want a piece of the pie. :o)

Its definitely a personal choice. I kinda admire the woman who can sell shampoo to a bald guy.

More power to you, bud. I just know that some local friends of mine knew I was an marketing stuff online, they searched my name and found me writing about "how to get your ex back". Needless to say, I was embarrassed. I decided that if I was marketing stuff I couldn't tell close friends about without getting embarrassed, then it wasn't worth marketing. Just a personal philosophy I suppose. I don't look down on anyone who does market those items and I envy anyone who is successful at it. ;)

hahaha.. I have seen real people writing flogs about fastsize extender.
I have several names. :)

PS: My point was that, that is a reallly converting ebook.. These people are really emotional when they arrive at your site...
They will TAKE action. They are either Very Angry or At despair. SO they either buy the above book, or Get Revenge/Background checker type offers...

Heh - That's exactly how I felt when the Mrs. was asking why I was playing with all these images of teeth - it wasn't a proud moment and thus ended my teeth whitening marketing career. But, there's still plenty of real stuff to market, and I'm jealous of those that can sell it, and sell it well.

P.S. What is wrong with teeth whitening btw ? Local dentists still do it all day long, I know some procedures and ofthen maybe bad for teeth enamel, but still it's ok for lots.

And these teeth whiteners may work just like cosmetics. Out of lot of diet bizops stuff this one along with ecig - looks legit;)

I can understand that a little bit more than teeth whitening, although not much more, tbh ;p

Maybe that he thinks if people know he writes about that, they might think he's needy/desperate/crieshimselftosleep about one of his ex girlfriends?

The teeth whitening products listed were crap and worked like crap and were simply rebills to scam people, so I dropped em. But whatever. It's real simple... Do what makes you happy, and I'll do what makes me happy - Simple enough.

Well, here was the thing for me... I think the topic is pretty useless. I don't REALLY think you need an ebook to tell you how to get your ex back. Sure, there are people out there that are going to grab onto anything they can to fix their situation. However, when I'm selling a product I guess I actually want to think of it as a real solution. If not, i'm no better than a snake oil salesman.

If I really thought the ebook had value, I probably wouldn't have been embarrassed. Instead I resorted to a response of like, "oh yeah, I was writing content because I was trying to sell a dumb book". That was a the cue for me to go market something else. :D

I don't think I would be embarrassed about teeth whitening though.

As you can see, affiliates pushing rebills are just small fish on the heirarchy of 'scum
who rob and enslave people'. So don't feel too guilty.

Not that I'd push rebills myself.
 
As someone touched on earlier, I think the better approach to AM (Affiliate Marketing) is IM (Internet Marketing). Instead acting like a perpetual affiliate, always pushing someone else's product and begging for margin expansion, instead consider affiliate marketing as your quest to learn internet marketing in general.

Being able to sell product across various mediums and building the intuition of seeing a product and instantly building potential campaigns in your head? That's an amazing, portable asset that better be the centerpiece of your resume.

I also don't recommend doing something if you feel that it's slimy. Your own mother might not fall for Betty's Acai Berry Blog, but like most people, she falls for something. You don't need to market the scammy stuff to make a buck. And it's a slippery slope to start desensitizing yourself to what you currently consider to be scamming others.
