Why Do Affiliate Networks (Most of Them) Not Use Cookies?

I was just sitting down and this came to mind: why do most of the major affiliate networks (A4D, NB, Copeac, CB, MaxBounty, etc. etc.) not use cookies that last in the browser for a period of time (30-60 days normally) like traditional affiliate networks such as CJ and ClickBank?

Customers definitely come back and have purchased items later as statistics show, hence why I think CB places a cookie in the browser so you can track exactly who is responsible for the initial lead/sale.

Do these newer affiliate networks not use this because it saves them a few bucks?

Just wondering why there is a difference or if there is something I am missing.

Copeac uses cookies, each offer has a time frame for the cookie, usually 30 days, we see many pubs who turn off still get sales for 30 days after the fact due to cookies on the machine.

I would say everyone else you mentioned also uses cookies in the same manner.

Ah, I gotcha I gotcha. So if a visitor clicks on my link with you guys, and then fills out the form like 5 days later, I will still be credited for the lead? I guess any example is say I am running a credit report with you guys, the visitor decides it will take too much time and then goes back 4 days later by just manually typing say creditreport.com in, then I will be credited for the lead?

Not all networks CAN use cookies for obvious reasons. Just look at AdExhibit Jason down here...

You are DEFINITELY missing something. Not only are cookies the tracking mechanism of just about all networks, MaxBounty is not a "newer" network. We've been around since 2004, and I know the other networks you listed have also been around for several years.

I think by "newer" he meant traditional affiliate networks (gay) like shareasale, CJ etc vs the "New" affiliate networks aka CpaNetworks.

I meant you guys definitely are newer than the traditional networks like cj/cb.
