Why do landing pages look so stupid?

I don't know if its just me, but why do the vast majority of landing pages for affiliate marketing products all look the same? You know, the one page layout with a large title at the top, testimonies on the side, etc. As soon as I see these pages I know someones trying to sell me stuff, so I quickly exit, and I think a lot of people are catching on to it. So why hasn't the market innovated? Why havent affiliate marketers found better designs that look less scammy and more professional? Or am I wrong and are these landing pages still working?

we are just waiting for the only smart innovative guy on the top to come up with another awesome landing page that we can all copy and use till it dries up and the process repeats again.

well at least we're all on the same page that its a stupid design...but you guys honestly don't think sales would go up if there were better designs out there? I mean yes, stupid people buy this stuff, but wouldnt a professional design mean more people buy stuff? I was thinking there would be higher conversion rates if there were templates like this:

these are pretty popular sites...thoughts?? what if every ebook/digital product started doing this? wouldnt this be better for us affiliates?

Youd be surprised how many people split test with a crap landing page and a clean professional looking one.... and the crap one converts better

It depends solely on what side of the fence you are on. If you stand in the webdev / webdesign side then yes squeeze pages and most landers scream sales pitch. The same would apply if you were a car sales man buying a new car from another dealership.

On the other hand when peeps are in buy mode ,landers and squeeze pages cut through the BS and get peeps to open the wallet which is what the consumer and advertiser want.

In most cases a crappy looking landing page will convert much better than a professionally designed LP.

In simple LPs, you have more control over the order in which the users look at certain objects (i.e., headline, CTA, etc.). However, "professionally" designed LPs usually have a lot more competing elements on the page that causes distraction. People on the web almost all seem to have ADD. Too many competing elements, stimulate that until they leave.

Maybe the crappy landing pages look like they were made by a regular joe and people are more willing to buy of a regular joe?
