Why hasn't Google indexed my homepage?

I have a Wordpress blog that's been active for a few weeks now, and finally got indexed by Google on the weekend. Weird thing is a ton of my category pages are indexed, my About Us/Privacy Policy, etc. but the main page isn't. Is this normal, should I just wait a bit longer?

Because you didn't give Matt Cutts a nice blowjob...

Seriously though -- how many links are coming to your homepage? Are you deeplinking your other pages? And your homepage -- are you sure it has not been indexed at all? Because your sub pages also should be sending some link juice to your homepage.

I now set my robots.txt file and Platinum SEO plugin to have the tags and categories be noindex... this is recommended by some wordpress SEOs. I want Google indexing my QUALITY content, not those pages.

Does everyone agree with that?

Go to: Wordpress Dashboard > Settings > Privacy

Make sure that blog visibility is set to "I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers"

I'm not trying to insult anyone by giving this very simple or maybe even braindead advice but sometimes people overlook this.

Ping all the links and bookmark them.
Make sure also if you have SEO plugins that are set the right way.
