I setup a news aggregator on a Wordpress site that takes rss feeds and turns them into full posts with a permalink to my site but credit to the original news source. It is financial news. My question is: will this cause google to ban my site because of copyright issues and duplicate content? and if that site gets banned will it effect subdomains to that site that are unrelated and not linked to the main domain?

I was wondering the same thing.. google has code in javascript that displays rss feeds on ur site yet i read somwhere that it's like illegal and will get u de-indexed.

I see what you are saying. However those sites, in contrast to mine, only show head lines or a small excerpt with the title link directing to the original source. I am wondering if the title links to a full page article reprinted on my site only listing the original source as the author, if it will be viewed unfavorably. I also am not sure that Google is above being hypocritical by banning for something they also do on some level.

You will not get slapped for your news aggregator. News gets reprinted a thousand times over across the Internet. Take the websites for your local news stations. I can bet that a good percentage of the national stories they feature are supplied by the Associated Press or another major news source, rather than their in-house news team.

OK, thanks, your confidence has given me confidence, hopefully it won't screw the site.
