Hostgator has softaculous or the alternative, i forgot it's name. It;s a script you can access in your cpanel and will automatically install and configure wordpress. Try it.

in the cpanel find the "Software/Services" section.

under that you can click "QuickInstall"

Click "Wordpress"

-> "Continue"
-> Select your domain
-> Fill out the informatin
->Blog is good to go

With Hostgator it's real easy.

If your domain is the "Main Domain" of the server, then don't worry about this next step. If your domain is not the main domain, then you need to click on "add-on domain" in cPanel and create a 2nd one. What this does is creates a subfolder on your server under your main domain and then sets up a domain redirect, so that it points people coming to your domain to the proper folder.

Then, you need to set up a MySQL database and a MySQL database user. Create a user and remember it's name and the password you create. Same with the database.

Then, upload Wordpress into your domain's folder.

Then proceed to your domain.com in your browser. It should prompt you to configure wordpress on the screen. You'll need to enter the name of your MySQL database, the MySQL username, and the passwords. That should be it.

When you don't have that wp-config.php, it means you didn't go through this "installation" process of the very last step above. It automatically creates that for you. Until you know how to grab a copy of that file and enter in all the information yourself, I suggest you simply start over and follow the steps. It should work out :)

i try all the 3 ways to setup wordpress and every time when i try to log into the my blog i got OpenDns error and my blog directed to website-unavailable.com

Try deleting all the wordpress files in your mysqldatabase and try this.
(btw I use hostgator and I setup multiple blogs)

Now go back to your C panel and scroll all the way to the bottom and click
on Fantastico De lux.

Now click on "Wordpress" to the left and click "New Installation"

After doing so you should beable to just goto www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin

You should be golden now.

If you still have problems, PM me and I'll help you, for free. But I think that the above instruction given by Spooled will for you.

Just follow this. It is a one quick install. Should be no problems doing this as it installs itself. You just choose a username, password and Blog Title. Thats it!

If I may add. If you have installed manually Wordpress then you need to get it out first before installing a new one to avoid any complications in the future.

If you manually installed WP get into Filezilla and delete all the files on the site except for the cgi.bin. Then you can go proceed with the steps provided here
in the cpanel find the "Software/Services" section.

Click "Wordpress"
