Will I be able to use widgets and seo my site if I use wordpress.com? I struggled off and on for like 2 weeks trying to download wordpress.org so i could customize my site but im a noob.

Use wordpress.com strictly for practice and link building. No Javascript and no making money allowed - not even Ad Cents unless THEY run it.

If your host supplies Fantastico , a few clicks will install WP on your own server.
