Do any of you know how important Worpdress tags are? I mean, I would assume it's only a small piece of the puzzle anyways.

The way I see it, if you structure your niche site with Categories, and title your posts with your targeted keyword, you don't really need to tag said post. I mean I guess you could craete a tag of the targeted keyword, but it seems redundant. To prevent duplicate content, noindex tag pages as well...

Any thoughts?

If you want to use tags, use them. If not, don't. My tags pages usually get noindexed unless I'm trying to rank them (which is rare.)

I agree with focusing on category pages rather than tags for most sites. Perhaps on sites with many pages tags could be helpful for users, but if you're trying to silo your sites tags bleed off your relevancy of structure.

Good stuff. I think I'm gonna do without. I've noticed a few tag pages indexed and that's the last thing I want -- my tag category posts and tag archives to be indexed for the same post.

Besides I'm trying to make quick 5-10 page Adsense sites so no need to get too technical I suppose.
