Wordpress vs. Built Website

I'm starting a fresh campaign and I have a question. I want to build the website from scratch, but is it harder to get a built website to rank vs. a Wordpress theme?
 


Both methods use the same SEO principles. There's a little more convenience with Wordpress because of all the plugins you can get.
 
I believe it's a wash, and that blogger is more google-friendly, since they own it. Can't prove that, of course, but still. Your niche will have more to do with rank issues.

From the spider's perspective, it's all the same shit. Wordpress ultimately spits out the same thing that would be hand coded in an HTML site, it just makes it easier to produce content and build out sites because you don't have to mess around with code each time you want to update your site.
 
i prefer to build my own sites. I dunno, because of all the blogs/splogs/flogs I have this feeling that Google might one day penalize the "yet another crappy wordpress blog" so I want to cover my bases for the future
 
Wordpress FTW. I don't want to spend time doing things that aren't necessary (ie. hand coding a site).
