The short message, for anyone that doesn’t want to take the time to read through this post, is this: Do not, under any circumstances, use TREXHOST for your servers. They are indeed the world’s shittiest web host.

Perhaps I do deserve the giant dick in the ass that this terrible hosting company gave me, because after a pretty involved search for a host, I found them via DP. But, you know how some hot chicks hang out with a group of ugly chicks and look better by comparison? Maybe I was thinking that this also applied to smart people and retards. Just maybe a few smart people were hanging out there and trying to make themselves look even smarter by comparison. Anyways, I digress.

There were problems from the beginning. A couple of my sites had been hacked and phishing pages had been buried pretty deep within them. I know this is a TOS violation, and would have gladly removed them when notified. But instead, they shut the server down. Turned it off, no questions asked, no email sent. Each time the way I found out my server was off from lack of any income. Never did I receive any email. So I had to log in to the “help” desk and submit a ticket, they would give me the domain and page, and I’d remove it immediately.

That pissed me off pretty bad the first few times that happened, and I was ready to find a new host. But we went for a while without having any problems, so I went with it. Then this morning I notice that my sites are down. Again. Fuck. I logged into the “help” desk area of THE WORLD’S WORST WEB HOST and see that there is a recent ticket out there, titled “Server Terminated” and marked as resolved.

WELL FUCK ME SIDEWAYS. It sure would have been nice to be part of the resolution of problems on my own account! Apparently the world’s shittiest host didn’t feel the same way.

Inside the ticket says I’ve been cancelled for nonpayment. What the fuck? Fine, I know the payment is due at the end of the month and that it hadn’t been paid. But I’ve checked my email at least 100 times in the past week, and I’ve logged in to my paypal account a few times over the same period. One would think that if a paypal invoice were indeed generated, that I would have been notified somehow. Again, Shitty Hosting Company didn’t agree.

Ok, my payment was apparently due the 25th. About 5 days before they canceled the server. No problem, I’ll just pay it up, get my shit back online and maybe make a couple bucks. Sounds easy enough, but no. Those fucks decide that since I wasn’t invoiced and didn’t pay the invoice that was never actually generated, that they would REFORMAT MY FUCKING SERVER!

“Happy New Year, and as a token of our appreciation for being a customer of ours and putting up with our ridiculous bullshit, we’ve taken the liberty of shoving this Yule Log in your ass. Sideways. Then we fucked your mom. Twice.”

Great. I guess it’s my fault for not sending them an email reminding them to send me an invoice. Admittedly, I did get sort of busy over the last week or so, and I should have remembered, but fuck. Reformatting after 5 days when they didn’t even send an invoice? At the end of December? It’s not like everyone is bored and has nothing going on.

Thank you TREXHOST for doubling my workload at the beginning of a new year. Fuck You. :boid:

If anyone has any suggestions on a new host that is not ass-rapingly expensive but is good, I’d appreciate a recommendation. I need one fast.

try dreamhost man they offer insane deals and u can always get $97 off any plan becuase of the referral program.

ok I'll check them out. Liquidweb looks pretty decent, and has good room to grow. Anyone have experience with them?

I would tell you about the dude I go through on DP

But I don't wanna get ass fucked

(mt) Media Temple - Legal : AUP

More media temple stuff, their terms of service seem a bit shit.

"Some example scenarios that may warrant a service suspension: ... An unusual spike in resource usage is detected by our systems resulting in an account far outstripping the allotted resources."

This seems shit since it's supposed to be a Dedicated Virtual Server, which means they should be able to assign a configuration for exactly how much bandwidth you'll use (CPU/Memory/Net bandwidth), unless they are overselling each physical server and dynamically load-balancing.

And this:

"Excessive hosting service striping
Referred to herein as "excessive striping". This describes the condition where a customer attempts to use 2 or more hosting services, stored with duplicate content, in order to collect an excessive allocation of overall bandwidth, disk space, GPUs, or other resources for the purpose of avoiding overage fees on a single service plan."

Pretty much means you get dugg or slashdotted or have a high traffic site you'll pretty much be fucked in overage charges ( both on the server and bandwidth ).

Shame, on the surface their plans looked pretty good. Love to hear if someone's been through this on WF and knows for sure this only applies to the shared grid or not the dVPS.

ok I'll check them out. Liquidweb looks pretty decent, and has good room to grow. Anyone have experience with them?

I have 2 LiquidWeb VPS's. Their support is great and very responsive. PM me if you want a promo code / link for their VPS1 or VPS2 package. (it's not an aff link)

I've been trying to get a reseller account with NoUpTime.com, but customer service hasn't got back to me yet.

I'm pretty sure I can make a return on investment by mid-June.

That's if they ever get back to me.

In the interests of fairness, here is the response to my enquiry to MediaTemple regarding their terms of service mentioned above;

It was a pleasure speaking with you earlier regarding your hosting requirements and how (mt) Media Temple can provide you with a solution.

As per our conversation, the AUP that we list on our web site, and the paragraph that concerned you, addresses those (ss) Shared Linux Server clients that we are still hosting and their potential 'unusual spike in resource usage' that those types of web sites can generate on occasion.

As mentioned in our conversation, it is only those legacy (ss) Shared Linux Server clients that we are still hosting that the AUP, and this section specifically 'An unusual spike in resource usage is detected by our systems resulting in an account far outstripping the allotted resources. To protect the customer, a site may be suspended in order to verify that this resource spike is legitimate', really still addresses for their hosting services.

As you will be ordering our (dv) Dedicated Virtual Server hosting service the 'unusual spike in resource usage' doesn't really address your hosting service as the (dv) Dedicated Virtual Server hosting service is designed to provide all of the (dv) Dedicated Virtual Server's resources to you as required.

Additionally, 'another feature of importance is the integration of a "Burst Technology" that allows unused resources within the Multi-Tenant environment to be utilized by other "active" tenants, so potentially, at a given time, your performance may exceed your resource capability, and it will certainly never be less than your guaranteed resource allocation.

If you have any further inquires please let us know.

Which is pretty good, I actually spoke with the guy on the phone prior to him sending this confirmation email about what we discussed.

The only other downside I saw was a lack of unique IP addresses available for your server.

Overall pretty good support and response.

i disagree, Peoplehost.com is by far the worst hosting company ever.
I tried to upgrade my account, they wouldnt upgrade it or get back to me.
I tried to cancel an account, they would get back to me.
The only way you can get through to them is make a support ticket set at "emergency"
and then they will get back to you in a week.

Try asmallorange.com , they rock. their tech support answers email in about 10 minutes. They are cheap as hell too.

I just wanted to say how much peoplehost sucks again. they billed me again even though i canceled last week.
