Police officers in Indiana are upset over a new law allowing residents to use deadly force against public servants, including law enforcement officers, who unlawfully enter their homes. It was signed by Republican Governor Mitch Daniels in March.

Didn't read, hope it's true. Come in to my house without permission, I should get to remove you.

#1 - Many states have similar laws

#2 - This law revolves around the fact that once in a while cops commit violent crimes against innocent people.

Prior to this law, if a cop decided to say..........murder your entire family while you watched for no reason other than he was pure evil, you would go to jail for defending them. This law would prevent you from going to jail in a case like that. Quite recently a civilian was charged with something like this, the cop got off without any judgement, and the civilian was put in jail.

#1 - Many states have similar laws

The first of its kind in the United States, the law was adopted after the state Supreme Court went too far in one of its rulings last year, according to supporters. The case in question involved a man who assaulted an officer during a domestic violence call. The court ruled that there was “no right to reasonably resist unlawful entry by police officers.”

hmm.

Actually, he's somewhat right. There are certain laws that prohibit LEO's to enter a home without a cause. This is why they need to get warrants in most cases, and if they enter without one - they can be held responsible for any actions after that point, including getting shot and killed. They can't trespass just because they're the law, but most seem to disagree with that.

This law is great, especially for all of the people who have had their pets killed because of cops who have had bad days.

well the fourth amendment, yes. But laws that specifically protect civilians if they use deadly force against the officer?

Is exactly what this countertop needs the LEOs are here to serve and protect not to tresspass and interrupt

This is going to be crazy.

I wonder how the future court cases are going to go for this...

Notsure if goodthing or bad thing yet.. :usa:

So does this mean militia groups and cults can legally fight off government agents when they get raided? This might set an interesting legal precedent.

Don't government agents usually have a legal warrant of some sort when they raid those groups. The law above covers unlawful entry by public servants including law enforcement.

Looks like all the supremacist and extremist groups are going to be moving to indiana..
