WPMU/hosting/footprints

two newbie questions:

1) does WPMU leave a footprint? what if i link site a to site b (but not site b to site a)?

2) what kind of hosting should i get if i'm starting out in SEO? do all sites need to be on different IPs if they're linking to each other? what about for the sites that aren't linking to each other? do those need to be on different IPs or even different hosts?

3) i plan to get private registration with GoDaddy for all my sites. anything to worry about there?

i guess i should expand a bit more about the types of sites i will have

1) money sites that i want to rank well in the search engines (they'll have lots of content)

2) sites that i care less about that i expect to rank well (with lots of content). they're primarily designed to be linked to the money sites.
