rephrasing of IM conversation:

THEM: we need 40x250 per day

ME: Okay, I can cut you a break @ $0.0275/word

THEM: We expect 10,000 words every day. We will pay you $1 for a 250 word article

ME: WHAAA? lol GTFO

THEM: But it's guaranteed steady work...

ME: uh huh...

THEM: we buy contents like this every month at this rate!

ME: less than half a penny a word, huh? good luck with that!

THEM: good day sir

ME: good day bro

*shakes head*

Next time, direct them to the sub-penny content providers on this forum. It gets rid of the riffraff. Keeps 'em busy. And it cleans up the place.

It's kinda like living near a drug-infested rent control complex. Suddenly someone comes over and offers the renters a better deal (lower rent, bigger place) elsewhere. They go for the deal and pack their bags.

Everybody wins. :)

imma start a writers union. lol.

seriously, tho, wasted like 10 minutes with him. shoulda charged him for that. oh well.

i mean think about - i'm a publisher too - how many crap articles for $1/piece will the Internet hold before it bursts? Content Mills are being talked about in big media now... their time is limited, i think. If you just spend a little more (like my rates for example) you can stand out from the cesspool that the sub-pars are polluting the Internet with.

the internet is a changin' i think...

while i'm ranting, though, stop pretending to be american!!!11one we know you're not! one had an .edu email somehow to keep up appearances. then copy started coming in with peculiarities like 'potato coach' and 'soccer leagues' lol... i mean, just be honest. like two guys and a truck. two indian dudes and a laptop. something. stop trying to scam, though. seems there's more and more of that gargage here at WF... although no one's forcing me to stay here and work for these rates (mine are even low when you think about it....)

anyway... yeah... crazy times....

Yeah you did. But now you know better. Qualify, then sell. You know this.

All depends on what folks are looking for. A lot of 'em are filling spam sites. That's fine. The thing is, Google's dumb, but not as dumb as people think - both on paid and organic. When it becomes harder to rank, the shitty content will go away. It'll take a few more years, though.

Yes. Lot of reasons for it. One is bidding wars. Another is "review copy" requests (especially from whores like plusmin=saar74=Zodiac).

I'm surprised you've stayed this long. Your rates are your choice, but they're not professional. I'm not trying to be a douche, because I respect you. Just being honest. Maybe it'll get you outta this cesspool and into a real marketplace.

I'm lazy? Heh. Or just using the writing to fill gaps while my sites grow up and expand. I should get off my bum and leave WF, though, and start to get a few bigger clients that appreciate the talent. I mean, we had someone at less than a penny saying they were journalists recently. Heh. I went to Journo school. I worked at a newspaper.

I like the freedom this life offers, though, and wouldn't change it for the world. Thanks to all the WF members giving me work over the last two or so years. I imagine I'll not be here much longer, though. Things are getting better all the time. ;)

But yea, these are by no means professional rates that reflect my experience and edu-mi-cation. It's crazy, though, because it's true that when you charge low rates like mine people expect more - like you have to prove something. Then, of course, you get the goons trying to hire people for less than a penny a word. ("But it's a BIG order!" yeah? so i write it for less? that never really made sense to me... the pricing structure...)

With the big media pumping out spam (Yahoo/AC, etc etc.) I don't imagine it lasting a few more years. Then again, you have the journalists on the other end of the spectrum screaming too... I'm somewhere in the middle, I guess. Heh. (Those are both good reads, btw...)

Anyway, thanks for the chat and the reminder that I should GTF outta here soon. ;)

I'll check those links. Aaron's a smart guy, but he's not always right. Just like anybody.

And about you bailing from WF for greener fields, no reason you can't do both. Some people want quality, some people want crap. Neither is bad.

You're a $100 blowjob selling your service on a corner filled with $5 whores. You're better, and you may be worth it, but that doesn't mean the market's willing to spend. You want $100, you've gotta snag the Eliot Spitzers. They're paying, but not on WF.

Alright, I've trampled on your thread enough. I'll PM you a blog URL I think you'll enjoy. It'll open your eyes to what's out there.

Jake - with all due respect, GTFO...... ;)

Let's not kick KPaul's ass out of the WF redlight district just yet, shall we?

I mean, if he's willing to do $100 blowjobs for $10, who are we to complain, after all?

And KPaul.......don't you blow town without leaving a forwarding address.

Hi Kpaul,
