Everytime I write a serious post (I know you hardly see it) It takes me so long to write it and proof read it. To make sure the brain to keyboard transformation went okay. Everysingle time I click the post button! It says i'm not logged in and i LOSE my entire post! I'm sure alot of others have written small golden nuggets that have been lost forever.

For long posts I usually key into a text editor, then copy and paste into the reply form.
Also, click the checkbox to stay 'logged in' and you shouldn't have to log back in for several days.

I found an HTTP "keep alive" plugin a while ago that's helpful for sites with short session lifetime. Forgot what it was called but you could google it
