After Barcelona - Chelsea (2-2) soccer match last night I wanted to read the interviews players gave after the match this morning. I forgot to type a . dot after www and it brought me to a porn site instead. :D

This means that the domain name of this porn site is wwwfcbarcelona.com & the domain name of the soccer club is fcbarcelona.com! For sure there are many people who forget to type the . dot after www, especially with popular web sites this might bring in some nice traffic as well!

What do you think, fc Barcelona soccer club will win if they going to sue this domain owner of wwwfcbarcelona.com?

i have a really good typo of a belgian soccer team. Idont really know what to do with the traffic though

What a brilliant fucking idea!!! I can't believe no one has thought of this before! Zuccarini would be proud of you Mike.

What about wwwfcbarcelona.com showing 'soccer related content' and placing Adsense ads throughout the content or to park domain wwwfcbarcelona.com somewhere? That's still illegal practice?

I wouldnt think it to be illegal to have soccer/football related ads and content on it, and parking it should be fine too. Of course I'm just talking out of my ass right now but it just seems like common sense.

Yeah I think he is right, I mean if you had a soccer related site put up on a domain that is a type of a soccer related site, they know you specifically bought the domain so you could get all the traffic from the typo.

But if you have a porn site, then maybe you bought it geniuinly because you wanted to name it that

But I am still little bit concerned about using their brand name...
A friend of mine was contacted not long ago by Smiley Central (smileycentral.com), because he bought/used the same domain name but different extension!

In what case, you most likely don't have this copy right issue:

If I for 'example' buy domain michaeljackson.info I might be in trouble, but what about if I buy/use domain bestofmichaeljackson.com or something misspelled like michaeljacksen.com!? :)

If you type cheverolet.com wrong it goes to a porn site. I can't remember what the misspelling is. I sent it to my dad once and he got all pissed off.

How much traffic is it getting?

It gets about 100-200 visits per day, I have it parked but clicks are like .06. I used to own a car loan typo that got about 200 visit per day, but i got rid of it because it was a big US car company and i didnt really want to get sued

I believe he was arrested a while back for this type of shenanigans.
