Hey guys...

Promoting a low CPC cost niche right now.

I get great QS on my broadest and most competitive terms and then I toss up one or two of the long tails and some of them get a whacked .63 minimum bid. I did it there (on a low cost niche!) and forces me at 1-1.3 position always, bad in terms of ROI

It's another random factor. So I wanted to hear people's experiences on lowering these random minimum bids.

I suppose the basics need to be done here are:

- make a more targeted page for this long-tail kw specifically (even though many argue that yahoo cares less about your LP)
- resubmit the keyword on its own ad group
- make sure your ad is targeted (naturally)

Anything else you guys recommend here that can ensure the minimum bid goes down?

I suppose the last resort is to play Yahoo's games of forcing an unnatural high bid and hoping the QS goes up and lowers the minimum bid. Very weird.

Thanks!

YSM has told me on multiple occasions that they could care less about the quality of a landing page and don't consider it when assessing minimum bids. The only thing they're looking for is relevancy to your keywords.

I've done some serious digging, and from what their reps have told me the only two things that they REALLY look at are:

CTR - Higher click-thru rate means lower bids and better positions.
Ad Relevancy - Higher relevancy to the search terms. Obviously having tighter ad groups will naturally allow you to do this.

This is just the usual obvious shit, but if you focus on those two things you should be able to have some success. You'll need to give it at least a few days for it to effect your QS.

As you probably know, Yahoo recently made the big mistake changing their minimum bids and have lost a ton of business because of it. They promised minimum bids of below 10 cents but have instead upped everything 500%.
