Gentlemen, Behold! Phonevision!

Just a cool piece on a cool site I ran across. Bear in mind that televisions themselves were not known to be commercially viable, long-term products back in 1951 ... the first mass production models were only a few years out of the gate at the point when Zenith came out with Phonevision, which at the time must have made people think that moon colonies and hookerbots were right around the corner.

Pretty neat, although I doubt a slightly blurred picture wouldn't deter many people from watching. Maybe if they did it with the audio as well that would have helped.

Lord knows I, well, not me but surely some other people, wanked to enough scrambled Spice channel when I was a kid, er, "they were kids" to prove your theory right.

On the hookerbot issue, I'd have to go with the more pricey. Prostitution, even roboprostitution, is one field in which I would definitely not bargain hunt. Never actually been with a prostitute, but these girls charging a few hundred dollars for the goodies are not on my list of potentials. There are just too many guys with a few hundred bucks and some time to kill.

Besides, I've been married three times. A woman who didn't cost me tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars to fuck would feel weird.
