Places to work from (apart from home)?

Going part-time next week (thank god) and sick and tired of working from home... Thinking of an alternative (but not an office)

Here is what I thought of:

- Library
- University
- Coffee shops
- Internet Cafe (expensive in the long run)
- My brother's appartment in downtown (while he's at work)

I used to work from home and it really sucked ass to "wake up in your cubicle".

What are your favorites places to work from apart from home?
 


you're not just tired of "working from home", you're tired of "working"
find something you love doing and it won't be "work", but "fun" and "play"
replacing or rearranging your cubicle will never work
 
I'm sitting in a starbucks now.

I thought of getting an office, but why incur the extra expense when not needed? The root of the problem will not be solved, you will still be alone with no adult/human interaction. lol
 
I can never work from home. I need a professional environment to get work done. If Im at home, Im either hogging on pringles, fapping to some clips or joysticking on my consoles. Officespace is the way to go. Which other way can you enjoy water cooler stories?
 
backpack europe with your laptop, stay in hostels for $5/night, and make daily $$ to eat and survive. Get a eurorail pass and just hop on a train to next city.

You can ship your suitcase from hostel to hostel, to travel with minimal gear. (versace suit and suppressed handgun required on person, as everybody knows. ha).

thought about doing that while taking classes online too. LOL.
 
if your library is nice, go there. libraries are all business so i usually am most productive there.
 
If you're in a city, there may be shared office communities which are a happy medium in expense and environment. Try "city name + shared office space" or "city name + coworking".

In Houston, we have the Caroline Collective. Very chill place to get some work done and always lots of tech/creative people around who you can network & share ideas with.

$10/day or $75 per month to use the common areas. $150/month for permanent desk which of course is subject to availability. Not free but very affordable compared to renting office space. And everyone is there to get work done in a laid back environment so there's less temptation to goof off than if you were at a coffee shop where lots of people are just chillin.

Oddly enough, I stopped going because I got tired of driving to work to do work.

Now that I work from home I have much cooler office mates, like this guy:

Only concern is that it's noisy, I've seen some of those places in Montreal and it's really like a bunch of cubicles stuck together, in company where I work it gets fukin' noisy all the time

interesting. The several times I've gone to Caroline Collective, its been really quiet. I was actually surprised at how few people were there. I guess it varies from city to city.
 
Instead of sitting in the office chair at your desk... unplug your laptop and work from the couch or something. My back gets soar as shit at my desk but lounging on the leather couch usually makes me more comfortable and work better. It's a very minor change but it's good to do once in a while haha
