What is one thing you purchased to increase productivity, that you can't go without

Droid X, 14" HP Laptop (same as when i started), wireless mouse for sure, photoshop

as for my 24" monitor .. that made me less productive b/c i just liked looking at it to much .. no joke

Sorry for outing someone's future facebook ad, but the one thing that really helped my marketing out was grillz.

But seriously, the one thing that actually made me productive and "reach for a goal" was the day I actually started tracking my complete spend vs earn in excel.

productivity:
· duel monitor + Dexpot
· timers: workrave to help focus the whole day, and QuickTimer for GTD list items
· ConceptDraw MindMap (raw ideas -> organisation & different approaches -> execution -> ? -> bank)
· photoshopping messages like 'work harder you bastard' into my desktop

If I was to choose one, it would be the timers.
I found out I respond to that shit quite well. A regular Pavlovian dog.

Cocobolo Wood 60 Minute Sand-Timer

Nothing says get your work done like a sand timer. I don't even have to flip it anymore... just looking at it motivates me to work harder/faster, and it's a constant reminder of past success.

Blackberry tasks reminders, it vibrates and a reminder comes up when I schedule it and a timer of course

drugs brrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooo

piracetam
adderall
provigil
instant focus
coffee
good ol' vitamin B

rotate.

i bought into some books about productivity and audio stuff too if that counts.

by far the best help has been a combo of:

1. Eat that frog
2. 4 hour work week
3. Pomodoro
4. GTD

As far as hardware and shit, I count my VPS as one of those. I have several but one of them is setup as just a windows remote desktop and I have macros and scripts running on it as well as setup for VA's to use.

I couldnt be productive though without my laptops and Mac, as well as the dual 24'' monitors too and iPhone.

I don't care if it's a fleshlight or a bookshelf. I'm not talking about software.

For me it has GOT to be my dual screen setup. Best investment I've made in a very very long time.

Shoot.

Hard to leave out software but can relate to better conditions with nice monitors and chairs. Wouldn't consider them "can't go without" however. If had to sit on a 5 gal bucket looking at a 17 monochrome crt I would make it work for this kind of opportunity.

Probably the best was free. I have an L shaped work station that supports my entire arm for the many hours of using a mouse. Never, not once have I ever had carpal tunnel issues or anything close. I believe it is due to this arrangement that supports everything on the same plane. Not sure if that makes sense but it really makes a difference to me.

I've got to sneak in software here. Besides Pomodoro and MindMap my latest can't do without is gestures for FireFox. I'm totally addicted to this and hate being on a computer where it is not installed. I've got to get this where it is not just on the browser but also works in the OS, windows explorer, etc.

Chianti + rep for the Dexpot link. Have been playing with this and don't know how I missed this one. If all my other tools added to my x & y efficiency this one adds to the z coordinate so to speak. I'm still learning what it can do and loving it. Thanks

Yea, I'm serious. Amazing what I can get done when I'm not playing human jungle gym for my 2 yr old...

Absolutely. If you don't distract them they will distract you. Lots of good "edutainment" kind of stuff helps the the day go better.
