Ok, I have no clue if anyone is using this method to research competitors but I know its a useful tool in my arsenal. It's the reverse Ip tool which I use about 5 times a day.

Basically, what it does is you enter a competitor's domain or IP and it lists all the domains on that IP for you to view. There is about 5 sites that do this service out there now, some free and some are paid, but my favorite is either DOMAINSDB.NET - Reverse IP Lookup, Reverse NS Lookup, Whois Tools or Reverse IP DNS Tool - Find Domains That Share Your IP Address which is mentioned in this thread(http://www.wickedfire.com/hosting-domains/1852-tool-find-al-sites-single-server.html?highlight=whois.sc). Here are the other ones I know of and have used:

whois.sc/domaintools.com - paid
webhosting.info - free but limited
msn, yes the SE - free, just type in ip:200.000.000.000

I like domainsdb the best because its free, fast, shows whois information, and if the person tries to hide domains by putting them on multiple IP's but on the same NS you can then just search by all domains on the NS. I like seologs because it shows subdomains.

Now, with domainsdb.net here is an example.

DOMAINSDB.NET - Reverse IP & NS Lookup Tool shows the IP address of 64.40.100.133, then click on "Reverse IP: there are 23 domains on this IP, click here to get them all" and you got all his sites.

found 23 domain entrys on IP: 64.40.100.133 [get RIPE/ARIN IP info] (Resolved: northernspotlight.com)
IP location: Canada [CA] - - Vancouver

Some may say that is wrong to post this shit. I disagree it's public info. I'm also posting this for you fucking newbies to learn! If you have an important idea or niche or you want to protect your niches then mix up your IP's, hosts, and NS. If you are in this game to win it then this tool/tactic is a must in your arsenal.

Also, another way to find out competitors ideas/niches is if you know their name, company name, or address... go to google and search for the state they are in plus secretary of state ex: California + secretary of state... then go to the SOS website of that state and search business. Usually, you can find all the companies that person is linked too.

Enjoy your weekend losers!

Cool thanks. I've played with it a little bit.

How does this work with shared hosting? Would you get all of the sites that are on that server?

Shared hosting is a little tougher. This is where private NS come into play. If they have a priv. ns on a shared host that has say 4000 domains you can usually search the priv. ns and get their 100 domains or so.

Got an example for me that I could dig up and post results?

Yup, which is why you target the big dogs, who usually try and keep all there shit together

Ok, cool I always wondered about that. Thanks for response guys.

I don't have an example right now, I was more worried about my sites.

Very nice. found about 200 arbi pages or something in 2 minutes. There got to be some nice niches in there :D

or you can use rerverse ip to find the other sites of people that are spamming your blog or forums. Then find out their email and add them to alot of bulk email lists under the name "forum spammer" or "blog spammer". So their email gets made pretty much unusable by compainies spamming wieght loss products to them under the name "forum spammer" or "blog spammer"
