First Muslim Mayor elected in Canada



dude one of the most popular Canadian shows was "Little Mosque on the Prairie"... we're not U.S here. Look at the Parliament, it's full of ethnic minorities
 
Bizousoft have you ever been to Calgary? It's a town that runs on Stampede, 2" thick steaks and country music, not exactly the place you'd expect a Muslim mayor to be elected.

I've been to Calgary and it's not what you're painting it out to be. Well to be fair, I was in downtown but still.

No, never been there, not planning on going there either. May be my Canadian geography is a bit off, but Calgary is in the Prairies right?

So here is my formula:

Sitcom "Little mosque on the Prairie" + Muslim mayor in the Prairies = Meh...

P.S: If you're from there I understand why you started that "Make Monies and Travel" thread :p

Calgary is in the foothills between the Prairies and the Rockies.

I would like to visit Calgary.

People didn't want a catholic president either because they were afraid that the US would be at the mercy of the Pope/Europe.

I'm well aware that Atheists are the most hated, feared, and misunderstood out of all the groups. It would tickle me plenty to have an Atheist President in office but that will likely never happen, so I'm happy with religious diversity instead of the same sect of Christianity over and over again. Perhaps a Buddhist next time?

I can only facepalm and invite you to Europe so that you can see for yourself what happens when millions of illiterate, uneducated religious people from the third world invade a healthy secular country.

Buddhist > Christian & Jew >>>>>>>> Muslim

And I'm guessing many politicians are actually atheist/agnostic.. just smart enough to not admit it. Every now and then they slip up though.
