I'm fine with them building it , HOWEVER from my understanding , the city of NYC has turned down permits/applications for christian and jewish centers in the area similar to the proposed one, so there shouldn't be any favoritism shown.

Lot and his daughters had just fled a city that had been totally destroyed and they figured they were the only ones left. So in order to continue the lineage, they got Lot drunk and slept with him. Hardly the family orgy you're portraying it to be, Lot clearly didn't instigate the plan, and it obviously wasn't the norm like Mohammed's obvious proclivity for pedophilia.

I'm an atheist, so I fail to see your point about glass houses.

However, if it's my turn to play "Defend the Christians" today, I would merely point out that Mohammed played a wee bigger role in the founding of Islam (all Muslims strive to be like Him in every way), than Lot played in Christianity (a few verses of Genesis). Aside from that, they got him drunk almost to the point of unconsciousness, before having sex with him. Not to mention they weren't children, they were young married women, not 9 year old children.

1) The daughters could not have believed that there were no men in the world. They had just come from Tzo'ar where there would have been plenty of men.
2) The chances of two conceptions by two women on successive nights is very slim. It's much more likely that these pregnancies were the result of repeated incestuous activity. The chances of pregnancy resulting from a single random sexual act by a fertile couple is on the order of one in 50. One might conclude that the chances of both daughters becoming pregnant on successive nights would be one in 2,500. Further, the chances of both producing a boy would be about one in 10,000. However, women who live in the same household often find that their menstrual cycles are synchronized. So, the chances would be much more than 1 in ten thousand, but would still be a very unusual happening.


Of everything we know about incest today, it's much more likely that Lot himself was the incest perpetrator; his daughters were victims.

However, from a biblical standpoint, Lot lied to the men and told them his daughters were virgins (they were both married and their husbands were actually in town somewhere - I'll find the verse later if you need it). As far as whether or not he was aware that his daughters were fucking him in the cave, again - this story was written by a man, so its accuracy is compromised.

I pretty much agree with you on everything. I will even argue my own point by saying that if I'm going to claim that he was a liar about being fooled into having sex with his daughters then I can't very well claim that he wouldn't lie about his daughter being virgins.

I still think there is a comparison here and that is that both religions are built on highly fallible humans (Lot was just one example of many many atrocious acts of the bible as we've all talked about before)with questionable (if not horrendous) behaviors and barbaric practices.

As I am usually on the side for sticking it to the far right Christians around here, I nod my head to your need for balance. In fairness, if I ever find myself in a forum full of Muslims constantly talking about how the Christians religion is evil, I will remember to point out that Mohammed was a pedophile.
