Dipshit OD's on Caffeine

if i wanted to poison somebody wouldn't the safest way be to give them a lot of water...lots? no trace

yeh smart thinking... another non traceable way would be to give them too much air to breathe. easier too since air is all around us and we have to get water from pipes

Couple years ago, there was a competition for like a Nintendo Wii or something, and to win it; you had to drink more water than your competition. This one woman wanted to win the Wii for her children, and was competing against some dude, and deep into the round, she went unconscious and dead.

Sad shit, I think the doctors said that she had like 8x more water in her system that she should have had.

It was the "Hold Your Wee for a Wii" contest: Woman in water-drinking contest dies - U.S. news - Life - msnbc.com

Please tell me you are not this stupid. Plenty of people have died from drinking too much water.

Water intoxication - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I know what water intoxication is. You should probably read the post after mine since you also seem to miss how stupid of an idea this is. How the fuck are you going to poison someone by making them ingest toxic levels of water? Also it doesn't take an MD to figure out how easy it would be for a coroner to detect water toxicity levels. HERE HAVE 40 GLASSES OF WATER. UR DEAD LOL

Are you serious? All you would have to do is hook a drip system up to their bedside and slowly drown them as they sleep.

(unserious cat is unserious)

I think your'e forgetting the whole "forcibly" aspect.

yeah I don't think that'd work..

I don't know... is there any reason to be selling powdered caffeine?

If you wanted to kill someone, mix in 2 spoonfuls in some Tang or some shit, bada bing, bada bang, dey dead.

I mix no-doz with tang, aka Super Tang

I bought pure caffeine powder, and like 1/8 of a teaspoon is equivalent to 100mg.

Incredibly stupid.

Just stab them with an icicle and wait for the murder weapon to melt. ;)
Or suffocate with snow..

Original wording was untraceable, though, that'd come up in the post-mortem, even maybe in an x-ray.

As to the article, not only is it from the Daily Mail, so has no real validity, either the article hasn't done its research (the Daily Mail not researching their stories?!? Never...) , or the guy was a total fucking moron..

Firstly, it says he had 251mg of caffeine PER LITRE of blood in his body. The human body has about 5 litres of blood in it. 251*5=1255mg of caffeine. Article says he paid £3.29 per 100mg, so the amount he took, I'm assuming over the course of a few seconds, was £41 worth, or around $66. He might as well have bought coke at that price...

However, another fact that makes me think the article is wrong somewhere, is that a normal, 250ml can of redbull contains 80mg of caffeine, about the same as a weak coffee. 1255/80=the equivalent of around 15.5 cups of weak coffee. (despite the article proclaiming it was equivalent to 70!) Very jittery, sure, and a bit of paranoia, but not lethal. I've had 20 cups of fairly strong coffee in the space of half an hour (don't ask!) and been fine by the afternoon. Pretty sure there was something else involved, á la the mephedrone news items.

Forgive my ignorance, but why would anyone want to take excessive amounts caffeine?

You've got to be either stupid or there's something else wrong somewhere :)

Or your pissed up! Is that it?

jeez whatever happened to just sticking a person's hand into warm water and making them piss themselves in their sleep?

lol at £3.29 per 100mg.. one cup of coffee has on average 120mg, do you honestly think the guy paid more for the caffeine powder than he would for an equivalent cup of coffee? There's WAY more than 100mg of caffeine in that tin of powder.

The kid's a moron for taking that much of this stuff and as much as I can understand the parents/aunt being devastated, they're also morons for saying it's anything other than his fault 100%.

Having said that, I was pretty surprised to hear that as little as two teaspoons of this stuff can fucking kill you. I'd say that's a pretty lower margin of error when selling this kind of industry-strength shit. At least with tylenol you gotta go through the process of swallowing 50-70 pills before you croak. With this stuff it's not like the majority of people have lab-grade measuring tools in there house, it's pretty difficult to tell the difference between 1/8 or a teaspoon and 1/4, not to mention the varying sizes of teaspoons out there, since most people probably don't use actually measuring spoons.. I've got sets of cutlery where 1/2 teaspoon is the same as 1/4 (or 1/8) or another cutlery set.

Just sayin..

According to this website:

Bulk Caffeine Powder Extract

Caffeine is highly toxic when taken in quantity, in most 150lb adults it is suggested that 9 grams of caffeine in a 24 hour period maybe be Lethal. This substance is HIGHLY variable depending on your own body chemistry, and if you do not exercise extreme caution in your usage you could die.

Typical drip-brewed coffee, typical caffeinated sodas (Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, etc. contain 40-50 mg per 12-ounce can), super-caffeinated colas like Jolt (70 mg per 12-ounce can), Maximum Strength Anacin (32 mg per tablet), NoDoz and Vivarin (each contain 200 mg per tablet), Extra Strength Excedrin (65 mg per tablet), Red Bull and Rock Star (about 80 mg per 8.4 oz-sized can).

So 70 redbulls would equal 5.6 grams of Caffeine.

Didn't realize how strong caffeine is.

You can also buy 100g of caffeine from that site for $8.75 which would kill a man 11 times over....
