Anyone got it?
Had a Wii a few years ago and I must say this one looks pretty good

A buddy of mine just got it and sent me a text saying I missed the greatest dance party ever. Sounds like it has a lot less limitations than the wii.
 
It is better than the Wii. I actually did a beta test for it I was up in Minnesota on vacation and they had a booth running and I got there in time to do it. It is really cool actually because it records ALL of your movements, unlike the Wii is based off a "remote".
 
I played the demo a bit and it certainly seems better than the Wii, but I haven't played it enough to make a proper decision on that.

But I think Wii sucks, so my opinion doesn't mean a lot :)
 
Yea I am interested to see what other motion games we will see after this thing has been out for a while.

You'll see a lot more advanced games use it. Games that just don't make sense to use the Wii or Playstation's version for.

For instance, you can't have a proper fighting game with a controller. You can't properly move a sword and shield with a controller. Stuff like that.

Nintendo really missed out, because they should have really too their motion capture to its limits before the competition moved in. They should have made sensors for the waist, arms, legs, and wrists so that they could have really made some awesome games - but they just want to target kids and older people, not the key 18-49 market.
 
Does anyone else think it's lame as fuck to have a dance party over a fucking Xbox? I mean, really? I could see playing sports or fighting or anything else on a Kinect, but a dance party? Why not just turn on some music and dance? WTF is going on with this country?

Id second that.

I picked up the kinect from a gamestop shipment as soon as it released coz I wanted it for interface purposes more than games. I wanted to watch my DVDs and view photos without a controller and just use my hands. Fucking fail. The kinect has its own dashboard known as the Kinect hub that is only controllable so if you are thinking that you can yell stop and play to your DVDs forget about it. Also a big let down was the failure to launch netflix. I have no idea where it has gone. All I can do right now is use ESPN and Video Kinect but no other fuckers in my friend circle have it. I am stuck with Kinect Adventures which is the bundled game in it and I have been more happier playing dave on a dos enabled computer. Perhaps an update should fix things.
 
What I want to know is if there's a public directory in which you can find other Kinect users, and initiate video chat with them?

I'd love to be able to use my domains I snagged up after they announced kinect.. kinectporn.net / kinectpranks.com / kinectvideos.net
 
From the vids I saw it looks like a promising piece of technology but in the current form it's a total fail.
 
Just bought one today with KinectAdventures & Dance Revolution.. It's not bad, wife and I had some fun on a few of the games like the rafting one. I want to try the KinectVideo chat, need to find someone with another Kinect though. I can definitely see the dance game being a fun one with some liqour.

The approach to full 3D would need 2-4 cameras, but a solution needs to be found so that they do not interfere with each other.

My girlfriend got me a connect yesterday and I have to say it's a lot of fun. I was never really a fan of the wii but the way you have to move your whole body with the Kinect is great.

I don't have any games yet other than the one it comes with (Kinect Adventures), but my roommates and I have been having some fun competing in the Rallyball and Reflex Ridge mini-games. And holy shit do you get a workout playing the advanced levels of Reflex Ridge.

I'd say the only thing that has disappointed me so far is the lag between yourself moving and your character moving. Once you get used to it, it becomes much less of a problem.

Oh, and make sure you have A LOT OF SPACE if you plan on getting one. We're college students so our house doesn't have much to get in the way but you really need a shitload of space. The 8 foot recommendation is definitely necessary.
 
played it at a buddys house last weekend

was pretty fun as fuck but you actually have to move your whole body and actually move forward and backwards for some of the games lol. pretty shitty if ur just drunk and wanna have fun.

you cant just sit on the sofa and play most of the games.
