Americans, What do You Guys Do for Thanksgiving?

Were going to try the Turducken this year. So its a duck inside a turkey.
Did I say I love America already.

damn that looks delicious.

I keep wanting to do the deep fried turkey thing, but just never get up the balls to try it.

On average, American families get together and eat turkey. Tonight I go to my parents with my side of the family. Tomorrow I will go to two parties that are on my wifes side of the family (her grandma's on my father-in-laws side) and then her aunts on her moms side.

Too much turkey, especially when you're not really a turkey guy to begin with!

If everyone likes turkey so much why don't they cook it more often?

It might have to do with the size of a turkey. It is too much meat to cook at once unless you are having a group of people over to eat.

I have cooked one, cut it up, and froze most of the meat for random turkey salad sandwich meals before though.

So. Fucking. Good.

Just do it away from your house and READ the instructions, and you'll be fine. Don't be one of these retards who does it in the garage. Also inject that fucking bird with tons of butter.

wednesday: dungesess crab feast because crab season just started...crab, butter, lemon, garlic bread.

thursday: traditional thanksgiving dinner at our house. it is a small gathering this year. only 9 people....usually it is about 20 people+ but I just wasn't up to doing the big shindig this year.

fri: see the in-laws that are visiting and in tiburon (about 10 mins away) for dinner and coffee. we didn't see them on thanksgiving.

You Americans are very smart - in the UK we get Christmas - you guys wangle it to get 2 holidays with thanksgiving too - our hats off to you..

My wife's family rents out a church so we can have thanksgiving there, somewhere around 40 people or so.

I deep fried a turkey again this year , twas a big success.

Next year I'd like to fry a duck , or at least do a beer brine on the turkey.

As others have said , cooking a turkey is a whole big deal , and not that easy. I fried 20lb turkey this year and I had plenty left over at the end of the day.

We have no family here in town and our limited friends were out of town with their families.

So, my wife bought a 21 pound bird for just the four of us. Biggest damn turkey I've ever seen. According to one website, if you want to feed 18 people, get a 21 pound bird. Luckily, I eat enough for six. :D
