Well, this is not really an internet marketing post, but as we are all trying to make some cash online, you might think about selling some digital production assets.
Pictures, to be precise.

The company I’ll point you to is crestock.com (no affiliate link).

Why crestock?
I am choosing crestock because I was impressed with the quality of the images they offer and their review process.

Requirements?
A digital camera of 6MP+, some good pictures.
crestock also accepts digital images other than photos, so if your pictures are 3D or vector based, go ahead and submit those as well.
The review of your pictures is actually intended to give you pointers to improvements.

How much do they pay?
Greedy bastards! I am so proud of you. <sniff>
crestock pays 20% of each photo sold by a normal customer, you’ll get 0.25$ if a subscriber chooses one of your photos.

Payout limit?
crestock pays once you reach 100$, payout is via paypal.

Conclusion:
All in all, the offer is not impressing, but solid. It should be easy to get a few dozen images into their database and once I get my new camera, I am planning to do just that. I might even give the old trusty lightwave another spin.

Enjoy.

You should affiliate link... There's no reason not to.. We all know that you're here to earn money too :D

But nice find, i'll have to give it a look... Any idea on how many people are visiting the site?

The site is probably smaller than istockphoto.
About the content, I guess this is a matter of taste, so you be the judge.

Not a dozen, a few dozen / hundreds.

I thought of this as a side project for people who do digital photography / imagery anyway.

Actually trying to let more crazyness flow into my ideas / approaches.

I was going to do this a while ago...

My idea was to make your own site and... use coppermine then write an add-on for it that uses paypal.

Show the thumbnail image with (C) on it, then sell the full-reso and the "medium" size for different prices.

Setup the script and checkout API's to e-mail the buyer the size photo they ordered.

You can also add-on to coppermine the option for visitors to order PRINTS. This add-on is out there already and could also yield some extra income for those that want to frame some of your nice work ;)

If someone does this I expect the code ;)

I'd love to do something with my photos! Mine are 3 or 4 MP, so I'll have to wait till I get a new camera for that site, sounds great though, thanks!

Hey Jan, for a small camera that takes badass pictures you can't go wrong with the Canon SD630 or SD700. I have the 700 and a friend has the 630 both are AWESOME and do 640x480 video :)

Ahhh, now THAT is what I am talking about. Will check stockxpert for sure.
+rep

With crestock you do not give away the copyright to your images, BTW, have to check that elsewhere.

I am actually buying a Canon Powershot 640 in the next few days. Finally replacing that old nikon shit.

You'd need to submit 1,000-2,000 photos to get any kind of decent revenue from there.

And look for a critical mass of 10,000 to generate something decent.

Chance are unless you are a stock photographer, you'd need some time to build up that mass.

I think sites like istockphoto favor enthusiasts and hobbyists more than anyone else.

If you're a serious photographer, you might be using the online stock sites to lead gen and pull them to your site and sell them your stock compilations on CD/DVD.
