Thanks for the backup
onthewayup, I actually thought that the xrumer was to blame, as I indicated on my last post. I didn't want to believe it was the hoth because everyone was singing it's praises.
I was blaming myself for my SEO tactics, but then when you pointed out the dupe content issues being a HUGE thing. I had to do a rethink.
After your comment I went back and looked at the exact sequence of events. I'm not sure if you saw the updated diagram. But the course of events was actually more like this.
As you can see the site was stable for 2-3 weeks at #14-#15 it wasn't boucing around at all.
After your comment about hoth dupe comment I went back and read my submission reports for xrumer and found that it was the cause of the brief recovery, not the actual sandboxing..
ANd the above image is more true to actual events..

You can't really apprecaite the gravity of the movments on that chart, because it's not to scale.. But after the HOTH submission the site dropped from a stable #14 to #60, and then finally to #100.. I emailed the hoth complaining about this, and he reassured me that this was a "google dance".. Meanwhile when this was happening the other guy Insomniac was complaining about poor quality article spinning and dupe content. They were fully aware of this problem, and they didn't investigate my submission. They continued and posted the same articles over and over again for the next 4 weeks..
