I had a major issue with one of my blogs late, I downloaded a theme from a random site searching for "free wordpress theme" in google, I came across a nice looking theme so I decided to install it. A few months after installing, i noticed a few sidebar links appearing, i could have sworn that there were no links there before, so I removed it anyway, and thought nothing of it.
Then another few days later. Wham! the link comes back, and not only that, a few more links appear.
Most of them are for high stakes keyword like auto insurance, payday loads etc.
I started to panic, becaue I didn't know what caused it. I tried uninstalling different aspects of the wordpress site, even the theme and plugins, but the damn links keep reappearing.
In the end, I had to do a clean installations of my site, and thankfully the malware I gone,
I read up on this and apparently there are tonnes of security holes in wordpress out there. 7 Tips to Hackproof Your Wordpress Blog | Web Standards Compliant
