I just read an article stating that they released this video to show the transparency of the department in letting the public see exactly what happened.

Heart breaking though.

Yeah this happened last week. None of the officers died, but I think a couple had somewhat serious injuries. I've always been amazed that the police precincts in Detroit, which are in some of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the US, have never had any bullet proof glass, but a lot of the police departments in much safer suburbs do. I live about 15 miles north of Detroit now, (about a half mile from Eminem actually), and the crime rate around here is quite low, but even our police department is behind glass.
