Zeitgeist: Moving Forward

Whats up with all this AI paranoia bs. Are you serious?

A computer can't launch a business, a computer can't be creative, a computer can't have initiative, a computer doesn't want diet pills, a computer can't sell and market goods or services.

But guess what? Humans can. AI aint got nothing on humans.

Money is not wealth. Its a means of moving wealth around.

You are right in a literal sense but if you really got down to it money is a means of moving energy around.

This is why moose, money in some form or another will never go away.

Furthermore, if AI took over the worlds production it would be better for everyone involved, especially consumers. No labor costs means dirt cheap prices.

Wanna make a bet on that? In 30 years (a conservative estimate) a computer will be able to do all of that. Besides the wanting a diet pill part.

It'd also mean that none of us have jobs.

I dont work driving a wheat tractor and I'd gamble that you don't either.

But I digress. The point is, increasing supply in a free market economy is most favorable to end consumers. Perhaps thousands of people worldwide wouldnt have to die from hunger everyday because of skyrocketing food prices.

Supply and demand still functions even if Japanese robots are doing all the hard work.

Sure, but (maybe this is where we disagree) I think eventually AI will also be able to do research in chemistry labs, manufacture a car, build a successful marketing campaign, write brilliant ad copy, get a site ranked at the top of google, etc.

I think eventually anything a human can do, a $1000 machine will be able to do.

Which means we'll all be out of jobs (or almost all of us will be). Which means the economy would change in a way almost inconceivable by us right now.
