  • Rookie of the year
  • 1st team Pro Bowl
  • 1st rookie defensive tackle since 1951 to be named All-Pro (ie best in the league at his position)
  • He did it with one good shoulder

This fucker missed the Pro Bowl because he just had shoulder surgery last week. Apparently he injured it in the last game of his college career and didn't want to affect his draft status - and when got to the league he just "played through the pain" all year to help the team get better. Hate to see what he's gonna do next year with two good shoulders and a year of experience.

He's a monster. Detroit will be good next year IMO. I think they have a good shot at grabbing Ryan Kerrigan in the draft, which would make that DL just fucking nasty. Google Ryan Kerrigan's YT highlights. I wish he would fall to the Ravens, but it just ain't gonna happen.

one bright spot on a shitty team

I disagree... if Stafford can get healthy (a big if), they have a chance to compete in the NFC next year, assuming they have another solid draft. Best is a stud. They have Megatron. They have Pettigrew. If they can get another pass rusher (Kerrigan) alongside Suh, the D will be scary.

Shiiiiite. The Lions have some fucking weapons now, and the stench of the Millen era is finally gone. They are about 2 linebackers and 2 corners away from being a serious contender in the NFC. Don't let that 6-10 record fool you.

It's not the quality of players, it's the lack of chemistry, a QB and fans.

Suh is a beast. No doubt about it. They need a new QB. Stafford is not a good NFL QB. I remember when everyone said that if Bradford would've entered the 2009 draft that Stafford would have been taken over him. No way that would've happened, but it's still funny. I think he'll be a good backup, though.

Also, Sam Bradford took a team that won 6 games in 3 seasons and won 7 without an actual WR to throw to for more than a few games... and, technically, Mark Clayton is a SL (tore ACL after 3 games, I believe).

Dude you are such an idiot. I will not write the 8 paragraphs of points to the contrary because from the way you sound you could be a bored housewife and it would go over your head. So I will say just this... JUST WATCH you simpleton, just watch.

Sounds like someone is a little salty about Suh being rookie of the year over Bradford. And don't forget that Bradford looked like a china doll in college with all of his shoulder injuries - that's why he didn't come out when Stafford did.

yo i'm not even a lions fan but i can tell you that team has a shitload of young talent. and stafford is a baller...not sure why this "clenard" dude thinks hes only a backup.

also doesn't detroit have alphonso smith? he's a pretty good young corner if i remember correctly.

just need like, a real offensive line...and maybe a few more defensive pieces (like a safety and a baller linebacker)

We need, IMO, in order of importance to challenge for the NFC North next year:

1. The best LT available, guy ready to step in and play from day 1 (already got our future long term RT, John Fox...stud who was on IR all year, they knew it was gonna be like that when they drafted him, that's why that got such a talent so low in the draft)

2. Another cornerback to play opposite Smith and let Houston play the Nickel position.

3. Some warm bodies at LB that can stay healthy, that shit was ridiculous this year...picking guys up off the street and shit.

4. Learn how to win close games. Lost a grip of games by 1 score, against good teams too...Philly, GB, Chicago (k, maybe not all good)....could have easily been 9-7 this year. And considering we won our last 4 games, including 2 on the road, maybe this point is already covered.

Keep playing the role of uneducated bandwagon haterz and then act all surprised next year when the Lions are good. "OMG, the Lions, I can't believe it"!

yea also you need the dumbass refs to stop fucking shit up, both losses to the bears (sorry nathan) were on some bullshit calls. one was the calvin johnson no touchdown that was actually a touchdown, and then the other one when Suh wrecked jay cutler and they called it unnecessary roughness (yea right)

Ahhh, little football fans. Probably never played a down in your life, but you'll tell me allllll about the sport. I'm sure ;)

Great example of someone who never paid attention to college football. Bradford had one injury in his entire college and high school career and it was a shoulder injury vs. BYU. He wanted to get out on the field again for the biggest rivalry in college football... was a stupid mistake and he re-injured the shoulder. "All of his shoulder injuries."

You do realize that Suh has had many more injuries in his career than Bradford, right? Same with Stafford.

Stafford is a backup because he's never faced good competition in his college career. I'm sure SEC fans will tell you otherwise, but when he played against good coverage he was man handled. He always had good protection in college, had a GREAT WR in AJ Green and a good running game. In college he faced defenses that were strong...against the run. In fact, Florida was the only good Pass Defense in the conference. Now that he's in the Pro's he's facing real coverage with pretty good protection. Shaun Hill is a better QB, yet I would never consider him a franchise QB.

The fact is - Stafford has issues making his reads, he's still trying to learn at a higher level and has yet to make any great decisions when he needs to, in critical situations. He's got one of the best WR's in the league and a decent running game. He can't stay healthy because he makes bad decisions.

The coaching staff is probably one of the better staffs they've had in a long time, but there's never going to be a playoff win with Stafford running that offense.

Their DL is very talented and could become a top 3 line in the league. But at this time -- Stafford is a mediocre QB that will become a backup within 3 years. He'll never be a good NFL QB. Come back to flame me if I'm wrong...

Cmon man, the guy has only been in the league what, 2 years now? Of course he is going to have issues making reads, especially when he has missed a lot of time. A lot of young QBs have problems making great decisions early in their career (I'm a Ravens fan, so I can attest to this). Also, Stafford has a tough time making decisions because the OL sucks and gives him no time. That's why he's oft injured. Protect him and he will be a solid QB.
