I built a site weeks ago. it is a myspace resource site and despite being 2000+ pages (1000+ of them indexed) for long tail phrases I get cruddy traffic from google.

Most of my traffic comes from pages 2-5..and this blows cause I would get much more traffic if I were ranked top 10 for most those 3-5 word phrases phrases. Even the low traffic ones. I got links and stuff.

Ia lso have another myspace site that is 7 months old and I recently added a bunch of pages to it. It has a PR or 4 I think. It gets little search engine traffic despite having tons of indexed pages. Is it sandboxed? I dont know. Why doesn;t it rank ? I dont know.

I could spend money on high PR links but will this help? Probably not im guessing since google devalued PAID links and they have sophisticated ways of detecting paid linkage.

Sowhats the deal? Also my MSN/Yahoo rankings are moot.

What you need is help from a gay forum.
Links do make a difference. As well as content.

You're playing in an ultra-saturated marketplace. Look at it this way, many myspace "resource" sites have been up for years, generate new material daily, and are linked all over the fuckin world.

Your site has been up for a couple weeks man. If it's organics you want, expect things to change on the order of months, not days and weeks, especially if all you're interested in is Google.

Honestly, I've had more success with Yahoo for myspace-oriented stuff than I have with Google. The big G seems reluctant to let anyone else in on the long tails, but Yahoo picks up those 3-4 word CGM things that I can't even think of

you are like 14 months late on the myspace/arcade phenomenom.... your only hope is to sell it to someone more naive than you on SP or DP.

its impossible to make money online, get a job.

Although it is saturated so is EVERY topic

name 10 and they are all saturated

but there are long tail phrases with myspace

i have gotten 15K uniques a day a few months ago with a long tail myspace site. but it was banned in a few weeks cause I was using BH. So the potential ot get traffic is there.

but I am trying to get long term rankings for moderate traffic pharases. i dont want to get banned in a week. Pretty hard though.

There is no god! Just have faith in your creation and keep bashing away. Google does not do well on My(wasteof)space sites, those click happy teens don't convert too well.

Failing that photoshop some adsense screen shots and try find someone gullible (not recommended) on SP

just give up and switch off the PC ....

Whats with all the crappy shtick when im trying to have a semi-serious SEO discussion? if i want shtick ill watch the daily show or something.

So I take it my question is so lame cause you guys already have the search engines mastered huh?

ha ha ripping of those sitepoint losers

Do something viral...a video or something, try to stick out and get traffic from other sources also. I'm green when it comes to this stuff but I know one thing and that's I'm not waiting on google for shit.

Everyone knows that substantial traffic from G is always going to take months, and unless you've got a huge budget to spend on link building and promotion, probably will take years to get the desired effect.

It took one of my sites 9 months to rank for a relatively low competition keyword, the whole time it was PR5 (PR, as we know, basically irrelevant to SE rankings).

If you have decent content and a good amount of inbounds, just wait it out man.

Note - That same site that finally got page 1 for my main keyword in 8 months was ranking page 1 for it in MSN in 2 weeks and page 1 in Yahoo in 1.5 months.

From what I hear, Google places a lot more importance on factors such as age of domain into ranking, meaning that if your site is only weeks old.....you'd better just let it sit and work on something else.
