Waking Up Sick Sucks!

I'm not sure if this has been suggested yet but take some echenasha and after that grab a clove of garlic and chew on that for awhile, then grab a few cough candies and put them into a bowl of boiling water and add some sage and parsley to the water, grab a towel and put your face in that steam, careful though cause it'll nock you on your ass if you take a big breath.

But I'll kill anything.

You can't treat viral infections with antibiotics.

very true. but i never said anything about a viral infection.
i said that he should go to the doctor after 48 hours, because if the cough is still prominent by then, the the danger is highest that he has caught himself a respiratory infection caused by bacteria.

but i hope that it doesn't matter anyways as he is hopefully feeling better by now.

Hot fluids (no caffeine) sleep and rest.

Nothing more to do. If you listen to your body and take 1-2 days of sleep and rest EARLY in the cold, you're set.

Case in point:

My girl and I both got the flu that's been going around town.

I took 1 (ONE!) day off work, not feeling too shitty, but still taking my time resting and drinking chamomile and peppermint tea until I was literally pissing it and even my shit smelled nice and fresh.

As a consultant, With my current rate, that meant some serious bucks gone.

She didn't take a break, but dragged her sorry ass to work every day, coughing and sneezing.
Of course she was taking over the counter cold remedies and vitamins (as I did).

After two weeks she's had to consult a doctor, take antibiotics for a week, take a few days off work and is still not completely over it.

At least she's employed, I don't even want to calculate what I'd have lost in pure $$$ that way.

Vitamins and cold remedies will support the healing, but nothing beats a day or two of rest EARLY in the process.
You'll be fine in no time.

stop taking medical advice from an affiliate marketing website and go to a doctor who might just know what they're talking about ;)

But that takes the fun out of it!

Thanks everyone. 6am here, still coughing like a bandit. I am fighting the smoking urge like a madman, if my throat wasn't so damn itchy and sore from coughing I'd be lighting up right now. I did the whole chicken soup (ice cream too to numb my throat), and the Vit C pills, along with a shitload of sleep, orange juice and water. I'm not a fan of pills in general and there's no way I'm going to chew on garlic or stick some weird shit into some hot water and then get high off of it. Going back to bed. See you all on Thursday or Friday.

Mate... hot water with a lemon squeezed into it with a teaspoon of honey and half/quarter a teaspoon of chilli powder mixed in will have you sorted in no time and back here telling me how to make my million... honest gov, but you defo need the chilli - takes away the cough :D

you should drink orange juice than take vitamin c pills. there's a reason why it burns when you drink juice while having a soar throat.

Get some zinc lozenges. It's the shit.
The most interesting thing about zinc is it tastes good when you're sick, and like shit when you're better...

If i get sick I fasttrack recovery (b/c I work so much that it would take forever to get better if I stayed sick) so i'll do,

echinachea, zinc, emergen-c, and maybe airborne... I switch b/w tea with honey (to coat the throat), and water, and the emergen-c or airborne..

I'll also take some cough drops to stop my coughing so I can sleep...

But this way I can usually go to work, and still fight off whatever SOB has invaded my body relatively quickly.:rasta:

Am I the only one who noticed someone said they take pseudoephedrine to get knocked out? It is a stimulant, actually what people make meth from!

Anyway, don't take drugs - take homeopathic remedies. Works better, healthier in the long run as well.

Good catch. Sometimes I type faster than I think. Pseudoephedrine is an awesome decongestant, but it's the alcohol and/or antihistamine in some formulas that knocks you out. I'll edit that post so I'm not responsible when someone tries to use it as a sleep aid. : )
