Dragons Den / Shark Tank

Awesome show. Although, watching the repeats, I saw an episode recently where they all laughed about this product, the she-pee, and didn't invest - it's now probably the second most successful product that's been on there. :D

I love Dragon's Den. had some friends on it last Wednesday pitching their fight league.

Cool to see some of the products on shelves around town

Comparing Dragons Den (UK) and Shark Tank is like comparing the US and UK Apprentice.

The UK Apprentice is about business and who is the best business person, the US Apprentice is about something all together unknown. An example would be that in the UK apprentice the contestants have to buy X objects for the best price possible, find a place to sell them, do marketing and then sell them for the best price they can get, the winner is the one who makes the most profit, business 101. Apprentice US on the other hand this week was about writing a children's book and presenting it to a bunch of kids, I mean WTF?? The US version revolves around trying to push shitty products that the show gets paid to push and nothing more. It's entertainment value is in the dynamics of the contestants, which is the only thing that makes me watch it (a bit like watching Jersey Shore).

Shark tank is the same. The products and business ideas are RIDICULOUS and the show is really about the interaction between people. It is fun to watch, but it is not a show for budding business people and entrepenuers to try to learn from (like UK Dragons Den is) its about who is the bigger fool.

On both US shows all they concentrate on is marketing, and everything else is forgotten about. I know we in the IM business like to think that marketing is all there is, but running a successful business and being a successful entrepreneur is so much more than just marketing.

Saying all that I do enjoy watching both US shows, but they could be so much better if they were based around running businesses like the UK ones.

I saw that. They made a deal with Jim. Would be very interested to know if he helps them with his US venues and marketing, or if all they get is the cash.
